• Hamer Question

Thanks very much for letting me know about that one. What does the IIRC thing mean?

Re: Hamer Question

I've wanted a U.S. Californian for a while now. If I can find one for a reasonable price, I'll pick it up. Of course that means that my Charvel collection wouldn't be growing. I've heard spotty things about the import Hamers. Although the U.S. models are among the best players, in my opinion. By the way "IIRC" = if I recall. IIRC

yes imports are kinda iffy, travis i know where there is a USA californian, itsbeen on the wall for a couple of years so they may take a lowball offer. Music Emporium in bellmore , NY thats longisland i think the # is 516-221-4888. & no i dont work there or anything, the sales kid is a know it all prick, but he actually knows very little.

Thanks, but unfortunately since I just got my 750 XL last week, my wife has put her foot down. She said no more guitars until my birthday (July 19th ) and then it will be a present. She said it will be a surprise, so I suppose I will have to drop hints.

Hamer Question

I saw this Hamer 27 fret "Californian" series guitar in a guitar magazine from 2002. The price was £345 which is something like $650. Has anyone seen or played this guitar? Is it really a Californian guitar at that price?

Re: Hamer Question

It would almost certainly be a Korean-made version. IIRC, Hamer has not offered a US-made production Californian since at least the mid-90s.

My 91 USA hamer californian is my favourite of all my guitars - trully awesome. Vernon Reid still plays he's old hamers now!

Also forgot to mention that there were two different californians the standard and elite.
Standard had roseword fretboard and dot inlays while the elite had MotherOfPearl boomerang inlays and ebony fretboard.

Don't forget the Californian Deluxe USA! It has both boomerangs AND dots (offset), and EMGs...

http://www.users.qwest.net/~livak/hcd3.jpg

The "original" imported Californian just had dot inlays, followed by a Deluxe version with pearloid boomerangs. The pickups were Duncan Designed like most import Jacksons, but the playability was still good and at least they stuck with 27 frets. The "new" Cali line is the CX I believe, and is only 24 frets. Booooo...

Also, IIRC = If I remember correctly.
