Re: Fender strat Texas Special
The Texas Specials certainly don't do metal. If you want a nice dual purpose metal/rock/blues pickup you should go with aDimarzio HS1 or HS2 in the neck, a stock middle position TS and a Dimarzio HS-3 in the bridge. Also, I had a strat with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders that was very quiet and it was a total monster. I don't like the VV or the Noiseless or the Lace Sensors. IMHO, they are weak in output and sterile sounding. They are great for the studio though because they are completely silent but they are too wimpy for me. If you want to do Texas Blues you need hot singles. Eric Johnson uses a Dimarzio HS-3 but wired in single coil. EMG SA's sound great too.
