What acoustic bass do you guys recommend. I saw the Ovation, and it was alright. What other major companies make acoustic basses. I would like to find one that can get the upright bass sound but also get a steel string sound. Is that even possible? Anyway, what do you like/don't like?

I suggest checking out Tacoma's Thunderchief Basses. I have played them couple of times. The quality is really good. I think that the low end Thunderchief Bass goes for about $700. Made in the USA.
