Out acoustic shopping today, I happened upon a store that had lots of low end stuff (Samick, etc.), along with some higher end stuff (Larrivee, some nice Takamines). Keeping an open mind, I tried everything I could get my hands on, and I found a couple of big surprises: 2 thin-body acoustics with cutaways with the brand name "S101" on the headstock. They are made in China, and the tuners felt like junk, but the guitars sounded really nice (amazing projection, considering their thin bodies), and the playability was fantastic!
I would've bought one, but the shop wanted $400 to $450 for them, and there was no way I was paying that for these guitars. When I got home, I found them for sale on the web for $156 new. Check 'em out if you can. I think you'll be very surprised. And if anyone knows anything about these (good or bad), I'd really like to hear it, because I'm about ready to buy one of these puppies.
