Re: SG!

    It's a 2002, I bought it a year ago this week. It has the 490 R & T set.

Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

I love SGs, I've just always hated the jack placement on the top of the body like that, that most of them seem to have! I really love the look of the 24-fret SG Supreme Midnight Burst, though.

        Re: SG!

I sold my SG to help fund some Charvel & Jackson purchases, but I could easily see owning an SG Supreme in the future. I like the more modern features and stylings they have.

Question of the moment - Is an SG Special worth buying? I would prefer an SG Standard, but that's just way out of my price range right now. Also, how about the Gothic? I love ebony fretboards and the Gothic has a really cool vibe. Do you find the tone, quality or playability is a bit off in less expensive models?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Depends on what you mean. If your looking for an invesment it the same as any other guitar in that price range. If your looking for that SG Tone then yes. Body Neck and PUP's same as the standard you can get a Ebony board on the special but not the standard. The Standard has all the trimmings like Binding, Inlays, etc. If you find specialthat plays good grab it there a good deal if your lookin for an SG.The Faded model is the cheapest I found these not to be finished that well almost cut my hand open on the fret ends.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hehehe! They had a sweet blue one on the floor in GC one time when I was in there... the thing must have been knocked around pretty good, because there was a huge ding in it. I couldn't even bring myself to pick it up and play it. I no longer use credit cards, but I do have a MF card that is very tempting on certain items, too bad (or luckily, I guess) I can't justify their pretty high prices.

                          Re: SG!

Even though I was a big Iommi fan as a kid, I'll be the first to say that most of the SGs I've played or owned have been dogs.

However, I loved the SG Supremes that I've played. I'd love to get one, but they're way out of my limited price range. Sometimes you see those funky single-hum versions of the Supreme that Gibson did in the late '80s/early '90s for a lot less money.

                            Re: SG!

damn L i had the same showcase in BLUE. i also had a SG-Z, i have pic of the SG-Z if someone wants to post them for me. i prefer the 61reissue shape ,W/ smaller neck heal. & i want a 3pickup custom in white BAD.

the SG-X was the cheaper model based an a standard SG but with one hum & 24 frets the SG-Z was based on the SG-90, which was based on a 61 reissue shape & neck type but with 24 fret string thru body & 1 hum 1 sungle. the 90 & Z were made for 1 year each. & only available in a few colors.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah, those things were cool. One had a single coil in the neck position, too. I think they were called the SG-X and SG-Z.

                                Re: SG!

My SG pants are going crazy for one of those new SG specials in faded brown. I played a faded LP at Guitar Center a couple of weeks ago and I like the way the finish looks and feels. Gibson seems to have made some MAJOR improvements to their QC, especially on the lower end models. Even that mega-cheapass Melody Maker had good fretwork.

But I still don't understand why they have CRAPPY rosewood on a $2800 guitar.
