• How do Jackson/Charvels and Kramers of the same era compare?

I don't mean to start any brand-bashing etc, but since there are fervent devotees to either camps, how do they compare?

The only old Kramers I am kinda familiar with is the Barretta and the Nightswan, how would they compare to their contemporary Jackson/Charvels?

Dude, not to sound like a broken record, but did you do a search on Kramer in this forum? We have some Kramer fans here, and there are LOTS of threads. Search, read, THEN post.

Also, right now the upper end Karamer Barretas are on sale for $499!! Original Floyd, neck thru, alder body, way cool headstock. If I wasn`t poor right now, I would get one, the only catch is they only have Blue left, no Black or red left, but I don`t have a Blue guitar, damn I hate being poor Jack.

I Like thier 1984 Reissue ones. I am confused though. I thought the web site used to say built overseas from USA parts. Now at the bottom of the page it says they are hand built in the US. I might pick one up if they are made in the USA.

kramer kinda reminds me of really good marketing techniques

thats why they were #1 in sales in the 80's, not necessarily because of the quality of the guitar

ever notice how so many kramers are made from leftover parts? and even on their cheapest plywood guitars they had an OFR going... those guys knew how to make some money.. they know how to sell their product a lot better than jackson

a former employee of kramer told me that kramer produces some pos guitars, and that on several occassions they were forced to use defective parts on the guitars because the actual instruments were already sold before they were built

anyways... i think kramers are ok, i own one
