Ron, that took long enough. It was at least a couple months ago that I went to look at this guitar for you.

Those frets look tiny Other than that, it looks like a sweet axe. 1 hum and a floyd is all anyone needs

Re: Rand Guitars

FINALLY!
Well, I got her! After many delays, I had one more to get through: I had asked Starguitar to ship so it would arrive on Friday 6/11. Unfortunately, the PO was closed that day, due to the Reagan memorial services. (Friday was my day off). So I got to sit around the house knowing that the Rand was locked away at my local PO just a couple miles away!

So I get to the PO at 8:30 Saturday morning...after not much sleep (unrelated)...long ass line, but they were calling pickups only to a special counter. I had brought my Gerber knife to cut open the box and do an inspection right there. I was a little concerned cuz USPS Priority is an unknown quality to me for shipping axes (I usually use FedEx).
I was actually pleasantly surprised how great shape she was in (had been described as rough -the finish was thin in places and there were chips and cracks here and there, but I really don't care so much about thin finishes or a few scratches)... and at the darkness of the actual color - the pics in this thread must've been taken in full sunlight, made it the paint look lavender and over-emphasized the faults....whereas the axe is a really nice shade of purple, quite a bit darker IRL...I showed the Rand to a couple people in line whom I had chatted up...the clerk asked me what band I was in! Ha ha ha! I told her PostMortem.
Alas, I had to get to work by 9:50 AM. So I had to wait til I got back home (about 3:30) to play. The V is surprisingly light, and feels very similar to my SD Rhoads. The neck is nice and thin...the non-inlayed fretboard takes a little getting used to. Also, the upper frets aren't all that easy to reach - as you can imagine! I'll work on my technique up there, although like Slayer, I'm mostly a rhythm player. This is also my very first single hum axe. Also need to replace the old grungy strings and fix the loose OFR collar.
Another pleasant surprise: how dark the fretboard is! Maybe I won't need to get it stained after all! I wish I knew what pup (and what wood) is in there, it sounded fairly hot but unlike the Duncans or EMGs I'm used to.
A nice bonus is my Jackson KVX10 fits this case just fine. (The guitars are almost exactly the same size & shape...just the Rand HS is a little longer of course).

Overall, definitely a cool & rare axe that's way more bitchin' lookin' in person!

(Updated pics later)

Awesome! It's not explicitly stated in your post, but I assume that it didn't come in a case. That's great that it arrived unbroken! And it's good that you can order a Jackson KV case to put it in if need be.

Very unique score. Congrats!

Yes, the HSC came with it - the Rand was shipped in the case you see in the pics. You missed this part:

It's cool to have rare guitars, isn't it?

Sweet axe mate, just do a load of tapping above the 24th fret rather than abuse your hands like that

you will soon get used to not having inlays on the neck..and looks better when others think(how is he playing with no markings..lol)the side dots are easily more than enough to navigate

love that neck
