• Just got my new Wolfgang

Hey guys -

I just got my new Wolf in today. I think I got a pretty good deal and so far, it seems to be in great shape, but I'll change the strings and really go over it this weekend. I've been really looking forward to it. Just a quick question. What do I need to do as far as maintenance on the neck and how do you go about cleaning it? I've never owned a raw/oiled maple neck and I don't want to screw it up. Also, is the recommended fret polishing on these: Mask the board and steel wool the frets or is there a worry about staining the board somehow? One more, when I move to phoenix (I currently live in Salem, Oregon = very humid), do I need to worry about the unfinished neck warping or is there anything I can do?

I'll try to get pics this weekend, but here's the dead auction link for now.

Wolfgang

Thanks

One more if you guys don't mind. What is the correct height supposed to be for the string retainer bar? This guy has it screwed down almost all the way to front of the headstock. What is the purpose of this anyway? It has a locking nut and even if it didn't, the headstock is already angled back. I thought these were for strats and the like with non locking nuts and straight headstocks . Maybe I'm wrong?

Great guitar Hotrod, I love my wolfies.

The string retainer bar should just be low enuff so you get 90 degree ( or close to it ) string pull on your tuners.

As far as the neck goes check this link

Wow, you are going from max moisture to no moisture! I am doing the exact opposite next month.
Anyhoo, after two or theee months you will probably need to take all of your guitars in for a level and polish on the frets and to have the fret edges filed and smoothed. In this zero moisture climate, wood contracts and the edges will get sharp. Plan on it.
I'm wondering whats gonna happen to my unfinished necks when I go to the moisture zone of NY.

There's two really good techs in Phoenix and neither of them are all that cheap.
