Peavey T60 Guitar

Guys,
Does anyone know how to date this? It's my wife's 1st guitar. I took it apart tonight; I will say this is a really nice guitar. The control cavity is shielded, nice pots and wiring. Good tall frets, fast neck, heavy as all hell. The stock pups sound pretty damm good. Also its made in the USA. I was doing all this to sell it, but it is starting to grow on me.

Skidd....you are probably looking around 76'(when they first came out) to about early 80's most likely.

They are really terrific guitars, built like tanks, and have a wide array of tones available.

Have you tried contacting Peavey? They're helpful and cheerful in my experience.

My memory isn't reliable, but I want to say the T-60 is late 70s-early 80s. It was the first guitar Peavey made, I know that. They're nice, I just never really got off on the look of them myself. Still
a lot nicer than my first guitar though.

76-77 IIRC. I was in high school and played a few. Bought a strat.

I always dug the T-60...my brother-in-law had an early one in natural ash....maple neck...it covered everything nicely.

I remember it being as heavy as my LPC with great sustain and a great lead tone.

They are reasonable on the bay and are a terrific value for a dual hum, non-trem bridge, USA made guitar.

I see them all the time on ebay. They either must have sold thousands of them, or people just don't want them. Some of them had a built-in amplifier in the molded plastic case.

Unfortunately, the guitars are bloody ugly. (IMO) [img]graemlins/puke.gif[/img]

my buddy bought his new in '78 black with maple board [amp in the case]and it was his only guitar till I built him 2 custom warmoth explorers about a year ago...he wanted a soloist real bad in the late '80s but hes kinda cheap and never popped for one.......... I never liked the neck on the T60. paper thin and peavey didnt take the time to round over the fret board edges...even after 25 years of playing his to death it still feels sharp... I think he wouldve played it till he couldnt...the frets were so worn in spots that it was just about into the fretboard....he wore a hole through the pickgaurd so we had to fabricate one for him...he never liked the factory pickups and coil taps so back in the day we threw some lawrence L90s in it..he still loves the guitar though.. I have seen several on ebay in the $160-200 range and very clean at that...I told,him to buy one , theyre up all the time on ebay,,he'd be set not needing to spend on the warmoths, but It seems he's grown a little over the years and wanted something higher line.....now If I could only get him to replace the origianl tubes in his '87 marshall 1/2 stack....john

Thanks everyone. The fret work is pretty good on this one. My guess is its early 80's or late 70's
