Thats got an arched top does it not.
Its kinda hard to see in the pic.Very nice I like it.Now get a hold of Jim Rolph and put in a set of his PAFs BTW get the R&S guitarworks electronics upgrade kit then you will have the best studio money can buy.I'm dying for them to make these in TV yellow.I'm serious the upgrade kit that R&S makes is the best thing you can do to wake up a Les Paul I don't know how to describe the difference other than HUGE!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, it does have an arched top. I've heard a lot about the R&S upgrade kit, I'll probably go for that soon. I've also got a TP6 fine-tuning tailpiece laying around that won't fit any of my other guitars, so I'll probably throw that on there, too The '59 rounded neck isn't all that bad either. It's got some chunk to it, but I usually play with only my thumb on the back of the neck, so it's not hard to get used to.

Are those available in the worn brown like the SG Special? That's a real sweet looking Les Paul, and a great price too.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No, only in the worn cherry. The MF catalog makes it look a little more brown than it really is, and I was kind of bummed at first, because I wanted it in a little more of a brownish/red, but it still looks very nice and sounds nice, so I think it's a keeper. Thanks! Now I've got my LP jones out of the way. I don't care much for body binding, so this works out great. Though, I do like neck binding and do sort of wish it had it, but not a big deal. This guitar does rock!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Do what I'm going to do... get some white or cream colored automotive pinstriping tape and apply false binding to the neck and headstock. I'm planning to do this to my RG560 and my KE3.

Re: Got a Les Paul

Here's the thread RacerX and I always refer to:

http://www.jcfonline.com/ubb/noncgi/...=000569#000000

The pictures in that topic aren't active any more. Shame, because the "false binding" turned out killer. Scroll down to where Offrampmotel mentions the kind of tape he used for his project. I sent him a Private Message earlier today (still awaiting a reply) about the tape he used and how I can't find it on www.3m.com because I knew he used black tape on his yellow Baretta, but I want white or creme and I wasn't sure whether those colors were offered or not.

Some JCFers were mentioning that if you put the "binding" on the body, you can then put some clearcoat over it and you won't be able to tell the difference. Same goes for stickers, I guess.

Now the problem with applying the tape on the freboard would be that I won't be able to see the dot inlays on the fretboard edge since they'd be covered up. I'm still trying to think of a solution to that. Black marker dots would just rub off. Got any ideas?

Hmmm, I may have found the appropriate tape:

But I'm not sure which one is the one that Offrampmotel chose.

Cool. I remember the post about that binding now! I never thought about going over the side dots, that would be a pain in the ass, unless you can find some kind of marker or paint that doesn't come off. Or I guess you could cut out little tiny side dots in black tape.

DUDE!!! I think that's it!!! Put a little square of black tape over every fret position that has a dot, and then put your white/cream tape over the black tape and the rest of the fretboard edge, using a nice sharp hobby knife to carve a little dot-sized hole in the white tape so that you can see the black underneath through the little hole!

............You wanna be the first to attempt this endeavor?

Haha, okay. When Offrampmotel replies which kind of tape he used specifically, I'll get some tape and try it first on my RG560... wouldn't want to ruin the nice KE3 right away. Maybe I'll put it on my acoustic as well before attempting the KE3. Before and after pictures will be taken for sure. Sounds like a fun little project in personalizing one's guitars.
