• Agile Ghost review...

OK gang...one amongst one of my last few posts here for a while.

I just did the dirty deed and bought a black Agile Ghost. This thing CRANKS!....what a killer deal for (PM me for price out of respect for the other dealers here) Hurry gang!..if you're thinking of buying one...Rondo(uche) have 2 or 3 left at that price as these we're floor models.
Action, setup...neck...craftsmanship are all right on the money with no real flaws that I can detct with a naked eye. Again as I mentioned in the other Agile thread, the hardware is cheesy. The electronics (including pickups) are marginable.

I won't say they are total crap, but most, like myself...will probably opt to change them. The thing is..for this price, even investing in new HW and electronics definitely will NOT break your wallet, and you'll end up with a very cool player in the end.
They are streamlined, and quite lightweight for an Explorer shape. One thing I really thought was cool, was the use of an endpin jack that's flushmounted on the bottom edge of the body. I will try to post some pics (Rondo doesn't post a lot on their site or on ebay.)
This axe gets an A+ for total overall value.

Re: Agile Ghost review...

Just got the AS-820 (Epiphone Dot - Gibson 335 clone) last night and I'm amazed by the workmanship. The only flaws I could find were two bumps on the binding. It was in tune and intonated right out of the box! The action was a bit low for my taste, but I was expecting it to be super high and with crappy strings to boot. Sounds great unplugged or amplified. I may have to get one of the LP clones (Gold Top / P90) too!
Here's a quickie photo:

ken -

just curious, when you say that the hardware and electronics are cheesy, is there any reason to change the pots, internal wires, output jack and tailpiece? how can you tell that they're shittier than usa stuff?

Gus,

It's typical import hardware (most likely Gotoh, or Ping) I shouldn't say it's total crap overall.

It's based merely on personal preference. I just prefer better quality hardware.

Thanks.....now I went and bought a white ghost Incredible value - I will leave it at that !!

I am also eyeing the 2500 12 string, 2500 quilt top and the as-820. Waiting on an email back from kurt on these. May be a rough night for the 'ole visa

hey swill,
i was thinking about buying a semi hollow jazz box also.
how does the agile compare with an epi dot, joe pass or other lower end models?
and if you could pm me the price you paid, that would be awesome!!!
thanks

Here's the Ghost after the (in)famous Warrior Trembucker mod...LOL!
I also rearranged the control layout like the original Gibson style...just personal pref.

Oh...and BTW...don't bother trying to remove the pickup covers on a black Agile guitar unless you like double white coils ...LOL! Going to be replacing the neck PU also.

What are those inlays made of? They look quite nice in the pictures of both guitars, but it can’t be real MOP on such a low priced guitar, can it?

Nah..they are pearloid plastic or celluloid.
Although they do use some real pearl and abalone on some of their guitars. My wife just bought an Agile acoustic with some pretty nice Abalone inlay work on the body.

Yeah they are even a little nicer in person. They do look like the real deal! Actually..I can go as far as saying they are much nicer than Gibson's pearloid.
