Re: stock wolfgang special
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I think the Morse is a great guitar, but I'm an Axis player at heart. Things I liked about the Morse were the lack of contours under the forearm (I like the feel of the guitar's edge there - no Petrucci forearm carves for me! ), the feel of the neck, terrific trem and the great build quality... The looks are kind of busy for me though - too many pickups! - and some of the pickup selections are kinda subtle - maybe too many choices, if that makes sense; all those options kind of confuses me! How it started was I was looking for another Floyd-equipped guitar I could throw a D-Tuna on for a backup for my Axis, and I thought I'd try a Morse, but the Morse was really overkill for my needs, so I settled for my Peavey Wolfgang Special for 1/3rd the price... I was amazed at how similar the Morse and Wolfie necks felt when I was playing between them - I ended up swapping the neck pickup out of the Peavey for a Duncan Custom, which sounds much better to my ears than the Peavey original, and I'm happy with my decision. But the Morse is really in another class than the Wolfie - I can see why someone who only wanted to keep two or three electrics would choose a Morse as one of them, because they're amazing instruments.
