There is the post about the JB Player Trem question, but the picture is so big it takes forever to load. I love my old JB Player Fat Strat. But, the Kahler trem is a cheap, pot metal metal piece of junk. The tension springs actually bend the frame. Lock it down and forget about it.

Yeah, I gotta agree. As much as some of you guys don't like Kahlers, they are very well made, and not junk at all. Nothing like that JB Player thing.

Re: Kahler Trem knock-offs JB Player
Please, don't misunderstand. While I have only dealt with PLAY DOUGH copies, I am sure the real Kahlers are class acts. The trick is to buy a beater guitar with a real Kahler.I am a true ass set to this board.

Re: Kahler Trem knock-offs JB Player
You can put a real Kahler on your JB Player, but since the knockoff is kind of backwards in dimensions from the Kahler,
you may have to drill a couple of new holes, and you'll have a couple of gaps on the side. you could seal those gaps cosmetically and it'd be fine. My neck through JB PLayer Strat is set up that way.
I have a Tele as well, and its bridge is locked down because the springs stretched
and the ass end hung in the air.
Those knockoffs sucked so much worse than the crappiest Floyd knockoffs that I think they really helped kill off Kahler!
They REALLY stunk! They were on Dean's Korean imports of the time as well as Magnum guitars (another el cheapo) so a lot of peoplesaw how bad they sucked.Ron is the MAN!!!!

Oh yeah, the Kahlers on $100 pawnshop guitars is literally true! I have a Peavey Vortex 2 (Rhoads copy) with a Kahler Standard flatmount trem, and Peavy
copies of Duncan Invader pickups. $96 out the door from a pawnshop in Harbor City, CA! Plays and sounds real good, especially for a $100 beater! The neck even has bushing inserts and machine screws for the neck/body joint, instead of woodscrews; very stable joint. Gotta love that!Ron is the MAN!!!!

Yep, I bought 2 Model series Charvels here in Austin, both less than $100. And they had Kahlers. I've also seen them on those old Takamine electrics from the mid-80's. The dang trems are worth more than many of the guitars they are sitting on today.
