I know your not going to like this, but I REALLY want a 7 string, and the only way i will be able to get one is if i trade in my 90 rr1. I was thinking about the Ibanez rg7640 the edge trem'd dimarzio havin one. Does anyone have on they might want to trade? Anything you can share about ibanez 7 strings, or just call me crazy?!

Re: Thinking about trading my RR1 for.....
Don't do that. Why would you need a 7 string? Can't you just tune your guitar to B?
I was almost getting a 7 string Ibanez, but I bought my Jackson.
And I can say, Ibanez with basswood
Think twice, before making this decision.

Re: Thinking about trading my RR1 for.....
Even though some Ibanez guitars play nicely, I wouldn't prefer buying some middle model, just because it is 7 string, since everything (except the seven string concept) is exactly the same like on the RG470 or 550 serie.

Are you sure you haven't mispelled the model number? I think it's 7420.
And checking that, that was almost my guitar, if I hadn't decide to buy something better.
And this doesn't seem to me like a special guitar. Some bridge tweaks and body cosmetics, everything the same like on cheap RG's.

Re: Thinking about trading my RR1 for.....
You're thinking of the RG7620. It was a really nice guitar, but doesn't hold it's value very well. I've seen them go for around $300-$400 all day. I've got one of the new RG1527's which are basically the same with the newer Edge bridge and Ibanez pickups (which I swapped for a set of Duncans). Both of these guitars are much, much better than the RG7420's or RG7320's which are the Korean made cheaper versions. If you're looking for a nice sounding nice playing 7 string without breaking your bank, then either the 7620 or 1527 will do that for you. Hope that helps.

Re: Thinking about trading my RR1 for.....
the RG 7420 are japanese, or at least mine is, still i wouldn't trade ANY Jackson for a basswood guitar, do you want a 7 string to tune down to B or you want the extra string? cuz if you want to tune down, do it on the Jackson it'll sound way better , PLUS if you really want a 7 string, check out some other brands, LTD made some 7 strings made of ash, although they had fixed bridges but they play and sound really good, they even made some neck thru body 7 strings, schecter made some nice models too...I'd stay away from Ibanez, the basswood body doesn't help to the low B string sound, not even with a dimarzio blaze

Re: Thinking about trading my RR1 for.....
I am a big fan of Basswood and I even admit that it doesn't cut it on a 7 string. Nice mids but no bottom. My preference for 7 string is Mohogany.
I am not saying that the trade is bad because of basswood. What I am saying is that an RR1 is worth 3 times what an RG7420-1 or a RG7620-1 is. If you want a comparable Ibanez 7 string to an RR1 in regards to value you should be looking at Jem's and Universe guitars.

Re: Thinking about trading my RR1 for.....
How about any one of the various Jackson 7-strings? The KE7, RR7, and DK7 are all good (AVOID the DX7). Or give it a couple months, because the rumors are strong that there's going to be a Christian Olde Wolbers signature in both US and import versions.
I wouldn't trade an RR1 for a mid-range Ibanez. Upper end, probably. You'd be better off selling your guitar and buying new, in any case.
