Cool - I think you'll be happy with them. They seem to be taking the 7 string pickups very seriously, and getting some great tones.

Yeah I thought there was maybe 2 or 3 models turns out there are like 5 models they have current & are working on 2 more types.
I tried to see if they could make 2 trembucker types with the parallel axis poles like the old TB-1's they have a custom option for pick ups I was thinking about going that route but, 250 to 300 dollars a pick up is a little steep.

I was planning on going, but I had to work late and wasn't feeling very good anyway. Concerts at that venue (Jaxx) always go on until, like, 1:30am--tough on us workin' stiffs!

By the way, in the land of DiMarzios, I really like the Blaze Custom as a 7-string bridge pickup. It's hotter than the other Blazes, and voiced for a lead guitarist--reminds me a little bit of a Super Distortion, but not quite as trebly. I still like the Duncan Distortion 7 better, but the Blaze works quite well--who knows, it might even be better in a basswood-bodied guitar.

Hey I just spoke to the custom shop at SD they're going to make me a Trembucker with parallel axis poles in the 7 string version, for 160.00. I'm gonna go with either a Jazz or a an invader in the neck. this should be interesting.
Can't wait to record an mp3 .
As far as the Blaze customs you guys talked about I use to have them in my Ibanez 7 I liked the bridge but the neck was very muddy IMO. They are good Pups for the 7 if your just useing the bridge.

Re: Yet another 7 string post...

I bought an Ibanez UV7PWH (pearl white) back in 1992. It played pretty darn nice after I got used to having the wider neck. With the thin neck, I was somewhat concerned that the neck might warp or twist but it never occured while I owned it. I wasn't overly impressed with the pickups but they weren't too bad. I ended up trading it a guitar show in Dallas for a PRS CE. I guess never was completely sold on the 7-string concept, as I have enough trouble with just six!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks - that was a fun show w/SyX. (We have a totally new rhythm section from that show, though.) I should've said something here about Lacuna Coil. LC was off stage by 11:15 - no kidding. They were pretty good, though, if you like their stuff - although I think they were better last time I saw them at Jaxx.

It was funny seeing all the goth kids completely confused - and scared, in some cases - by our, um, somewhat more aggressive style.

My guitar with the Blaze II at the bridge still has a Duncan Design at the neck - I'm waiting to pick something up cheap to replace it, since it's my #3 7 string. Maybe a PAF?

Anyone try those Korn K7 models yet? I'm not too keen on the K7 inlay, but it seems cool with its mahogany body and PAF 7 pups. And I believe the inlay and side dots glow in the dark!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The only one of those I've seen in person is a used one at a local GC for which they are asking $900. Sorry, that's a bit much for me. If I'm spending $$$$ on a 7-string, I'm going Petrucci or Jackson Custom Shop.

None of the guitars are playable, either. Horrible conditions all around - there's a used Soloist in there that won't even produce sound from the low strings because the setup is so screwed up...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I remember that Sabre--that thing was in there forever, and they never lowered the sticker price. They've had a few nice pieces in there lately, but nothing I've wanted. That Soloist (the cherryburst SL-2H, I presume you mean) actually had perfect action when it first showed up. My GAS meter was pegged when I saw that one for the first time! But I've already got a 2-hum Soloist, so I'd rather focus on getting something else.

They are overpriced, but they're at least as good - if not better - than the UV, which is also overpriced. Of course, you're not touching a Jackson CS for twice that, and a Petrucci's almost as much, but I see your point - you COULD get a USA Rich 7 for not much more than that.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Oh, I know that a Jackson CS or 7-string Petrucci is going for way more than $900, but my thinking is that once you're up into that kind of price range, you might as well go all out and get what you really want. Sort of a 'false economy' theory, I guess... I've thought about used BC Rich 7's, but they all have seem to have that "Mick Mars" vibe about them, which isn't really what I'm about.

Or you can buy a Sunset 7 on eBay. For $500, apparently...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Dude, I almost snagged that one! The auction for that white Sunset 7 ended within about 5 minutes of the auction for the A-7 Elite that I ended up getting. I think the A-7 ended first, and I was worried that a flurry of last minute bidding would drive the Sunset 7 out of range, so I had to hit the A-7. But I drove the Sunset up to about $460 before bailing on it (I got the A-7 for about $350)--and it turned out that the Sunset didn't go much higher than that--I was a bit peeved, but I'm happy now, since I prefer neckthrus. The A-7 Elite is a neckthru that plays very nice. And anyway, I never did find the top end of the Sunset winning bidder's proxy--so he might have been willing to pay a lot more than $500.

Yeah, they seem cool. But I wouldn't even bother for that kind of money. They are way overpriced. Plus,I can't stand the inlay, either.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">A buddy of mine has one. Next to the GC Sabers, it's my favorite Ibanez 7 string. They do sound pretty good, although the pickups could use some more bite, IMO. The side dots do glow, which is actually pretty cool, and potentially useful.

Of course, the trem is crap, but what can you do? Even replacement with a real Floyd requires moving the posts, if I remember correctly.
