But I know that he did not mention that the headstock would be a very light green PRIOR to painting it. Otherwise, I would have left the headstock unpainted.

No biggie. I'll just get it stripped and sanded at some point. It may be a while, though. This geetar plays so nice.

I just got a very detailed explanation from Lee via email. He also volunteered to take the neck back, strip/sand, repaint/refinish all on his nickel. He will also pay shipping both ways.

I have had issues with matching headstocks on refinished Fenders. Nitrocellulose has an amber tone to it and the body usually needs a few more coats of clear than the hedastock does, so the body will be slightly 'warmer' than the headstock, even though the two color coats came from the same batch of paint.

That, or you could go down to Home Depot, get a can of 'Aircraft' stripper, pop the nut & the machines out, brush the stuff on, wipe it / scrape it after it bubbles, re-assemble parts and be playing it two hours later...otherwise you're looking at at least two weeks without your guitar - which might suck worse than the colors not matching...

Then just tell Lee to credit you an "extra" pickup in your next one you get [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
