Re: Warmoth project finally finished

Thanks for the explanation. I barely know how to turn the son of a ***** on, much less linking, copying, etc, etc.

Thanks for the compliment. Another cool thing about Warmoth is that they produce fantastic products in minimal time. Build time for my guitar was estimated at 8 weeks. I got mine in the middle of the sixth week. Damn, I sound like a Warmoth employee!

It's very light, like lighter than my Mexican strat. The finished body alone was $570. Pretty pricey upcharge for the hand picked spalted maple.

The black bindings look great! Spalted maple is that much?!

              Re: Warmoth project finally finished

Spalted maple is the most expensive exotic wood they have, even more so than Koa. And I paid like $15 extra to have them sort therough their stock and pick the coolest looking piece rather than just grab whatever was on top of the spalted pile. Binding was $55, neck pocket contour was $35, Clear coat finishing was $150, and so on. It adds up.

                  Re: Warmoth project finally finished

My one piece Koa body was just over $350 before finishing and minus the contoured neck/body joint. Soon as I can get motivated, I'm going to have a Telecaster built to mirror the Strat.

That's a neat-looking spalted top. I think the black bridge does a nice job of fitting in with the grain, too. Great-looking instrument!

                      Re: Warmoth project finally finished

I love both of these guitars. I just finished a Warmoth project myself and while it was a bit pricey, (about 1300 for everything) but it was well worth it. I opted for warmoth to finish the neck and body, but I would do it myself next time around. The did an awesome job, but but it cost$$$. I actually tried to sell this on eBay a week ago because I needed money for another purchase. Nobody bid. Thank God. I would never make my money back, but I'm happy with it. This is the type of guitar you need to hold in your hands to appreciate. Nice work guys!

The thing about Warmoth is they do not hold value. You can sell it the day you put it together and bet on losing 1/2 right off the bat. Better to part them out.

And that's a damn shame because I have several custom shop guitars and my Warmoth Strat is as good if not better than anything I own by Fender, Gibson, Jackson or Robin.

I built my Strat to keep, not to sell. It reflects my taste in components, tone and playability.
