Anyone heard of this? Some guy has a set neck on the Bay, but the pix are crappy. It looks like a Gibson but the auction just says SX Explorer style body?

They used to be known as "Essex" and had an Explorer and V model. Probably the New Harmony

They carry the SX/Essex brand - they were pretty helpful to me, you might want to try and email Kurt there about it and see what he thinks (he was straight up with me when I was deciding on some Agiles).

            Re: SX Explorer

I picked up the Agile explorer, lefty for about $250 bucks no case. It's really not a bad guitar for a set neck at that price. ( I think they're about $200 now). It's solid wood, not particle board. The only thing I don't like is that on my white guitar, it has a black headstock. I'm thinking of having the headstock changed to white and put all black hardware on it.

Cool Joe, I have Ken's Black Ghost on the way already, I just saw one of these on the Bay gutted and I thought it might be cool for a project guitar (if it goes for dirt cheap).

Got Explorer feaver ever since the current GOTM went up!

                Re: SX Explorer

I have a 1984 Cort explorer and now this Agile one. Gibson is now selling their Xplorer in a lefty model so I'm giving serious thought into picking one of those up. The only problem is that they don't have white as a color choice, so I'm thinking about their copper finish.

What's your thoughts on yours? Going to keep it black or have it refinished.

I think I'll keep it black, but I have to see it in person first.

                      Re: SX Explorer

I do not have the electronics in mine. It does have the brass dot inlays which are very cool. The original neck pickup died so I had it replaced, however, the neck pickup is a killer. It has the smoothest sound I've ever heard--better than some of my Jacksons.

The construction is plywood body with a set neck. Rosewood fret board and both the neck and body are bound. Again brass bridge/nut and inlays. It was white but fadded to a creme. You can check it out on my website.
