Re: Whats with the Ibanez JEM\'s?

I want to point out that the Jem fanatics, and I used to be one, do not really consider the 555 a true Jem. I think I sold my Jem 7VWH, which was signed by Vai at the store before I bought it, for 1200. I had 2 universes, one was black with green pups (the least sought after) and I sold it for 1350. I also had a UV77MC that had a particularly nice swirl from ATD. Dan Lawrence later touched it up and recleared the whole guitar. I sold it for 1250. Shoulda asked a lot more but...

I've got an '87 JEM7RB (Root Beer) that I had refinned at GMW, and I guess it all comes down to personal taste. I love mine and wouldn't even THINK of getting rid of it. It's the most tonally versatile guitar I own (Out of 13.. Jackson,Hamer,Gibson,Fender etc...)I can get everything from the best strat tones (better than my STRAT) to full-on humbucker rage, extremely comfy neck, great upper fret access, I can flog the Edge trem to hell and back and it stays in tune well. Sure, the plating on the trem/neck cover plate has worn a lot, but it's 23 years old.
I think they are overpriced, but not nearly as bad as the Jimmy Page Les Paul ($23,000 MSRP for the new ones)
Best advice is to play one, if ya like it, buy it.

The JEM7RB's were made around '88 at the earliest...so your guitar is more like 16 years old.
