• Looking for good starter classical guitar

Hey guys. Im looking to get a good starter classical guitar. Im not really familiar with acoustic guitar brands, because ive never bought or owned one before. Ive played a lot of student models at guitar stores and it seems like theyre either crap, and really inexpensive, or other ones are really good, and really expensive. Ive played a few cordobas, and they seem to be pretty good for the price, any suggestions? Is the choice of strings on a classical a bigger influence in tone than on an electric? Im looking for something a tad bit better than a basic student model, but not too expensive. Give me some reccomendations please. Thanks!

I teach classical guitar. The BEST beginner-to-intermediate guitar is easily the La Patrie Etude. Solid tonewoods, made in N. America, and usually in the $250 range, often less. For a little more, you can step up to a somewhat nicer model, though the build is equally killer on all of them. http://www.lasido.com/lapatriee.htm The only things that give it a run for the money are the lower-end Yamahas with solid tops.

Ditto on the La Patrie Etude.... They are badass.

I'd go with LaPatrie also - good build quality and a real good value. And I'd recommend Augustine strings. Their tone is way better than anything else I've tried.
