I got a friend who wants to learn to play bass. I'm trying to direct her towards gear that is decent but low priced, so she can have a quality instrument to learn on, and maybe something that'll work well in a band situation. And she is left handed...any suggestions?

It's ok man...I talked her into learning to play right handed. I think she's gonna get one of the 4-string OLPs, which are sweet instruments for the money. -

I tried those low end fenders at GC, I think there were about $200 bucks and for the price, they weren't too bad. It looked like a P-bass (at least to me) The one I tried had a black finish with maple neck--pretty simple setup. The action was suitable.
