• wolfgang or strat?

Hey folks, I havent posted in a while but Ive been real busy with school and other stuff. Im thinking of getting either a Peavey wolfgang or a Fender strat. Im going to be playing for my church on a pretty regular basis and am looking for something that will match up well with a Fender Deluxe tube amp. Im looking for great playability and awesome clean and good smooth lead and rythm. Which one would be better for what Im looking for? It would mainly be used for clean stuff, strumming and easy leads. Ive played lots of strats and they are cool but havent gotten the chance to play the wolfgang. I love the look of the gloss black wolfgangs, they are so killer. White is cool too. Anyone got any good pics of the gloss black or white? I know these are two pretty different guitars but which one do yall who have played both, think would best suit my needs? thanks a lot guys.

Wolfgang, as long as your church doesn't mind shred.

I'd say if you are playing mostly clean stuff, the strat might sound better. I have yet to hear a humbucker that sounds as good a single coil in clean modes. But hey, go play both and decide for yourself!

Strats are great.
If you put single coil that has baseplate,it will sound fat.
And position of 2 and 4 will kill the noise too.
Or you can try a Strat that coems with hum in the bridge position like the one below.

I think the Strat is the right choice for the job you've described. I'm a big Wolfie fan, and I can see one in my future, but not for playing clean.

I think your best bet is the Strat, I have a 95 Strat Plus w/ the Lace Sensor pickups...I love it..but it doesn't work for my metal stuff LOL..it does wonders for the rest..

Re: wolfgang or strat?

I should have figured the strat for clean. Dang I really wanted a wolfgang though. Something about how classy it looks in gloss black or gloss white.
And the necks on those things. I might say screw it and get both if I can. How much would a great condition gloss black wolfgang with case run me?
I was going to get a Japanese strat because I know a guy that deals mainly with Japanese guitars you cant get in the US or that are discontinued. I heard they play really nice and got a chance to play one and it was pretty nice.
I wish I could go out and play the wolfgang but Ive only seen a few in my life and all of them were in other states. If I could get a really nice condition gloss black wolfgang for a good price Id go for both. I love guitars and I have been in an odd stage of my life where I didnt play much and kind of stopped caring about them, but now Im getting back into the groove. thanks folks. Any nice pics of black or white wolfgangs?

Wolfgang is fine for clean, use the neck pickup. I did a fill in guitar gig for Zamiale1 (sorry Will, I know I spelled that wrong) at his church, and the Wolf sounded great.

I used to play the accoustic part to Motley Crue's Misunderstood at shows on my wolfgang, plus a bunch of other clean parts. The wolfgang I feel is one of the most versitlle(sp?) guitars around if you have an amp to back it up.

would it match up well with a Fender hot rod Deluxe 40 watt tube amp? thats what im looking at right now to go through. Then maybe someday nab a 5150 or something to keep me in the metal scene.
I cant get over the looks and the necks of them.
If I coil tapped it, wouldnt it be better for clean? I think playability it would smoke a strat,
but that could be debated. I wish I could get some nice sound clips or the wolfgang wiht clean.
that gloss black is calling me. Where is the cheapest place to pick one up new or 95% new?

thanks for all the help fellas. I think Im going to keep my eye out for as new a USA wolfgang as I can. I got to have the gloss black with white binding. It is calling me. lol. I think it will match up well with the Fender amp. That amp seems pretty versatile, and that guitar seems like it smokes. It should be a fun combo to work with. And later on down the road Ill nab some tube head and get back into metal.
