Epi Standard LP's and Samick LP's are both great for the money. I own an Epi LP Standard I bought for $350 off Musician's Friend. Trans Amber, black hardware, it plays and sounds great.
I've seen and played some Samick LP clones and they are not bad guitars, usually around $175 to $200 used. They feel much like the traditional.
