• The Southpaw Minicaster is done

The kids finished painting the front and the whole body got a few coats of satin poly. The hardware was painted with a special spray paint that gives metal objects an anodized looking finish. The bridge saddles, pickups, pots, and switch came out of an organ donor Blue Flower Tele. The bridge plate came from www.angela.com. The neck pickup ring came from www.stewmac.com. The neck came from the Flamer guitar (it was the original neck). The tuners are from a Jackson Rhoads hardware kit I bought from www.eastonguitars.com. The volume and tone knobs are Nobease that I got from http://www.espshop.co.uk/nobease.asp. Here's the final result:

Cool stuff. I can't wait till my kids are old enough for me to really start getting them into our world I can think of very few things that would be less fun than building an axe with / for your kid

    Looks great !

That face on the front horn below the cutaway reminds me of the Seasons In The Abyss-cover face.

very cool, talk about a guitar having sentimental value. The art work is cool.

That is going to be an awesome story for you and your son to share again down the road...excellent job!

Very cool idea, having your kids do this. The red circle looks like a meteor getting ready for impact on the face.

Hmm, can they do a blue/gray sunburst-type snakeskin?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Of course. They will need to know the type of snake you want done (boa, python, etc).

I don't care. It could be a garden snake if it's the easiest they can catch.

That's so cool that you did a project like that with your kids. You spent time with them and they learned constructive and useful. And I think the guitar looks great, too. Big thumbs up to you, sir, and your kids.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Absolutely! And they don't screw around waiting unecessarily for the paint to dry and stuff like those so-called professionals do. If you've resisted getting a custom graphic because of the lengthy wait at GMW or something, wait no longer because HippieTim's kids are open for business!!!
