They offer some fairly original shapes in Japan. Unfortunately, the average American guitarist can't handle originality, so we have to import them.

That "V" with the hooks looks like the bass that was used in the grunge band L7. I don't know if hers was an ESP though. The "eclipse" looks like an upside-dpwn version of Tommy Lee's sig model from a couple of years ago (Fernandes?). I think it's obvious as to which the other two are based on.

That "Eclipse" is a direct copy of a Gibson RD Artist.

hey guys have you ever seen a shape like this ?
shiit badass ;D

most of their shapes are slightly modified existing ones , their original shapes are mostly ugly.

The R-1 is just a ripoff of a gibson rd custom.

How many models can ESP have called the Eclipse?!? The original Eclipse was a Telecaster with Jackson-style headstock... Scott Ian used to endorse those models, and there's a black one sitting in a local GC right now. Then somewhere in the late '80s they changed the Eclipse to the Les Paul-style that's still around today. Now there's this Firebird mutant!!!

The Potbelly and MV are original, though derivative in the same way a Jackson would be to a strat or a PRS would be to a Les Paul. The Horizon III is fairly unique (for a "superstrat"-type), as is the Halibut bass.

Those weird ones arent that original either.

The Flying A is a Kramer Enterprise without the piece that runs from the body to the headstock parallel to the neck.

That Elicpse looks like a melting non reverse firebird.

The brown flame top thing is similar to a PRS.

And that mad Funi Char thing is like a Klein.

Im not getting at the fact that they're unoriginal, Im getting at the fact that most original sensible guitar designs have already been thought up. Any new designs, and people just go 'eugh' because theyre to different, and not like whats been done before. Admit it, all these mad shaped Jacksons, theyre not new are they?...
I bet those who liked the Warrior the instant it came out were in the minority. Same with the Explorer.
Just my 2 cents

That Funi Char looks like an Ovation Breadwinner body.

I agree, most makers are using variations
on Fender and Gibson shapes because that's what most people want, without paying Fender and Gibson prices. That said, the prices ESP charges when Jacksons are better AND cheaper...

Just goes to prove endorsees are good investments for ESP; that's who sells their guitars.

The Funi Char kinda reminds me of the old Vox teardrop
