Well I was bored last night so I went to guitar center, they had these squier bullets for $99, well I had a $25 gift card too so I bought 1, Well for 1 thing it's light as hell, I thought "Laminated Tonewood" was heavy like my Charvette but I guess not. The 1 pick up is good for light distortion which I knew it wasn't going to get a heavy tone out of it, the cleans are good. I think I'm going to swap out to a black bridge and tuners and throw a Jake E Lee pick guard on it with some new duncuns on it and see what it does, Hell for $75 it was better than blowing that money on booze and the like, plus it gives me project #3 to finish. It's blue with a black pick guard, I'll post some pics tonight

Re: The $99 Squier Bullet Reveiw
Ya, pick ups leaves something to be desiered, but I think it'll make a perfect Jake clone for less than $300 so that's sweet in my book, I actually love the cleans on it. I'm playing through my creat dxj212 on the accoustic channel it does pretty good. If you hooked it up to like my old 5150 it would sound like total ass but still it does it's job for the price I paid. It also needed a total set up when I brought it home too, but that was expected.I've fallen, Fallen through. If I'm Not With you, All I wanna Do Is Feel blue

Re: The $99 Squier Bullet Reveiw
yes agreed, the cleans are fine through my VHT Pittbull CLX-100, but when I turn the gain way up, it sounds horrible, probably do to a low output pickup and cheap pots, but that can all be changed, but I am still probably selling her. Jack.

Re: The $99 Squier Bullet Reveiw
I don't even think it would be worth selling, even If I just changed to a JB and swaped pots I'd be into it for less than $200 and have a great back up axe for shows,I've fallen, Fallen through. If I'm Not With you, All I wanna Do Is Feel blue

Re: The $99 Squier Bullet Reveiw
I'd try the SD, I didn't care for the 1 I had in my DC125, that's why I swaped it for a custom custom, but maybe in a bolt on it might get a great sound. Ya, the tuners do suck I'm going to order some new ones this week, I think maybe Gotoh H3063's in black.I've fallen, Fallen through. If I'm Not With you, All I wanna Do Is Feel blue

I also picked one of these up. lot'sa bang for the buck. I scalloped the fretboard on mine (I was wanting an Yngwie Strat but wasn't sure I'd be cool with the scallops... $100 later.. yep, I'm sure :-)
Very cool for an "El Cheapo"

Re: The $99 Squier Bullet Reveiw
I have started the project with Anniversary Strat from Squier.
I will be putting Hot Rails in bridge and a Duckbucker in neck. I have not decided whether to replace the middle or not, and what to install instead of the stock PU.
I will post a review of those two pickups working. I am expecting some very dynamic sound out of it. If you are interested, of course.
