Re: ESP "The Mirage" A great Guitar

This Horizon belongs to a client of mine. I was thinking of making him an offer on it. All he wanted was a full set up and an EMG 81/SA setup. This guitar has a few nicks here and there, but man does it play and sound awsome. I don't care if it is Japanese. It's a neckthrough arctop with EMG's and an ebony, no inlay board. SWEET!

I have one in that green. It is in top pic of the link below. It has mini buckers in it. They made them with humbuckers too. If you want to pass a lead to me I would not mind another.

I just came across a good deal on a ESP Horizon if anybody is interested! It's just like the purple one, Same pickup configuration, has Duncan Distortion in bridge (Original pickup is in the original hardshell case) Neckthrough, reverse headstock and it's yellow and black crackle! Original hardshell ESP case with original pickup for $399.00. I'd say it's about an 8.5 out of 10 but is missing the two back covers for some reason.
Let me know if anyone cares..
Oh yeah, also Archtop....

Here's my Horizon...kinda tricked out...

http://hometown.aol.com/stutdavis/page2.html

Also have an old KH2 Neckthrough. Used to have a nice M2 Deluxe in trans-green over swamp ash (beautiful guitar) and a Lynch Skulls N Snakes but had to let them go for $ for other guitars along the way.

ESP made some awesome guitars back then, no doubt.

Ooooooooooooh I'd love to have that purple Horizon--gorgeous!

Hrm...yellow and black crackle...like to see pics of that one.

That purple horizon is amazing! Does anyone have any pics they could post? I admit I am not a huge fan of ESP guitars, but that horizon is really nice.

Here's another one of the purple Horizon. I think I'll make him an offer. Not sure if he'll sell though. He paid $800 about a year ago. The pictures make the guitar look better than it actually is. the finish is still bright, but it has little dings all around the top and bottom edges. not horrible, but they are there. What do you guys think a fair offer would be? I like it, but if I have to pay $800 I would rather look for a Jackson archtop pro.

If I get it, I'll let you all know if decide to sell or trade it. If somebody had a Jackson Archtop pro stringthrough I'd be in heaven. I'll keep you posted!

The late 80's and early 90's ESPs are outstanding guitars. Here is my last ESP it's a 1992 Lynch model Skulls and Snakes. Serial # 92061. I purchased this guitar at J and J music in San Jose, Ca. in April 92. This model debuted in 1992. ESP cannot verify if this is one of the few painted ones out there. The colors on mine are slightly different from other S&S models. There are no tell tale dots in the graphic like in the silk screen versions.

I paid about $800-850 for my Horizon on the page about 4 years ago. Then paid about that amount again to have GMW customize it for me. Wouldn't have done that if it wasn't a great guitar hehehe.

I'd love to have another one. Don't know what I could offer you if you got it from him, but...uhh...I'll be thinking about it just in case hehehe.

Hrm...and yours also has the offset dots and not the "swords" inlays...interesting. Mine was DEFINITELY one of the silk-screened poopers. Gawd, I've done inkjet printings with the cartridges sputtering low on ink where the picture looked better than that thing. Quality control must have all been saki'd out on that day, I think hehehe.

And what is ESP and Ibanez's fascination with that crappy tinfoil looking inlay material? It's not even like they use the SHINY side of the tinfoil, either, more like the DULL side! Lawdy I could kick someone at those companies for being too darn cheap to spring for some real inlay material, or even real-LOOKING inlay material. Heck, I'd have taken pearloid any day! HEHEHE!

Looks like I'll be getting that purple Horizon! Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I'm either going to keep it and retrofit it for an OFR, fix the dings, sand and new clearcoat or I may just trade or sell it to one of you more die hard ESP fans! I'll post more detailed pics here when I get it.
