• Anyone ever play a Celtic Esquire?

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/511539/

I need a back up guitar because (finally) I'm in a band.

The pickup doesn't matter, I'm slappen a EMG 85 into it. I love it's simple look, no whammy bar, one hum...

I like the inlay and the fact that it's only in the middle of the fretboard.

I have the Celtic Showmaster. Pretty much the same. It's a set-neck but the carve on the Showmaster at least is more reminicient of a neck-thru carve.

You will not be disappointed in the least (and at that price what do you have to lose ?)

I had a Scorpion - It nice, but the finish standard wasn't great and I never really used it, so it went!

those are really good guitars. note that I did not say "those are really good guitars for the money". I have one of the ones with the Shelby GT stripe on it. After tweaking the setup for about 15 minutes and changing strings this thing is ready to rock!

          Thanks for the input.

What makes you say it's not a nice guitar for the monies? Seems like a deal 250 bucks... what else can i get for 250 bucks that has a pretty neat inlay and so simple....

Kremit: ya it's pretty cheap but looks worthy

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">you missed my point. I said it is a really nice guitar. my point was that it doesn't need to have the "for the money" caveat that cheap guitars usually need. IOW, it is a really nice guitar. Period. End of sentence.

I have one of the Custom GT's and other than the nut being cut too deep for the high e its great. Time for a new nut.

Re: Anyone ever play a Celtic Esquire?

I just restrung my Esquire GT with 12's and tuned down to B. I had to cut the nut a bit and reset the action/trussrod/intonation.

                  It's kick ass!

This thing growls and I no longer want a 7-string (for now).

Those are a great buy. I played one and thought it was pretty cool. It was a little on the light weight side, but for what it is it's a cool guitar. I'm getting away from 7 strings too. Too much hassle and they are alot muddier than that a down tuned 6 string in my experiences. I'm realy looking into a Flathead though. The new ones with EMGs.
