• Les Paul Supreme?

Anybody have any opinions on these? I've been shopping for a Les Paul and I keep seeing pics of the LP Supremes that look like these:

Those have got to be some of the tastiest Les Pauls I've ever seen. Any thoughts?

Haven't had the opportunity to play one, but they look pretty nice. However, for the sky-high list price, they should be very nice-looking.

The odd thing is that I was paging through Musician's Foe the other day (just checking prices, I'd never buy there) and the LP Customs were going for more than the Supremes. I found that a bit surprising.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I just did a quick check through Yahoo! and found that Sweetwater is selling them for just under $3K - the list (as you probably know) is around $4-4.5K, depending on the model. I wonder if the Supremes are poor sellers - maybe some people don't like the inlays or something silly like that?

maybe being on the Custom Shop roster, they boosted pricing on the Customs?

and i dunno personally, the Supremes never really appealed to me. I'd go for a custom, again, personally. haha. maybe people like being bogged down by the heavier weight of the custom? (kidding)

since the supreme is chambered and all.

Aren't these the chambered LP's? My local shop has one, but its 3500.00. Too steep for me.

I noticed the same thing in the MF catalog. I would still get the Custom. Something about the headstock doesn't look right on the Supreme. The headstock inlay on the Custom just looks right to me. Although I'm sure the Supreme is a fine guitar.

On the other hand, I could really go for a Burrito Supreme. I wish there was a Taco Bueno around here...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It's that goofy inlay. That's probably the only reason I don't own one yet. Call me nuts but when I get up north of $2k, I get a lot more particular.

I have played one. Very Beautiful, flame all around (including the back), and yes, chambered, and VERY light. (for an LP, of course).

Definitely a Jazzer, not so much a rocker. Very warm tone.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If you order one, Sweetwater would be a great place to get one. They'll probably even give you a couple hundred bucks off for being a new customer, too. I emailed them about a PRS not long ago, and they called me back and explained their operation and that they'll even set up the guitars to your specs, and they had great prices, too! The guy I spoke to was Mark Magdich.

There was a late '70s special edition LP that had something similar to those inlays. That was always my favorite LP, but I never got one. I wouldn't want a chambered LP--kinda defeats the point doesn't it? You might as well get an ES semihollow.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">A lot of LPs are back breakers, so the tone chambers just lighten the weight a little bit, and that's a good thing!

i think the high end prs and les pauls look great but....

i think i would rather get a thorn, mcnaught, etc to custom build me a guitar. i heard you can get something similar for alot less $$$. plus it'll be completely custom to your specs. for 4g's i think you can get a thorn and a half.

back to the lp supreme...i think they look awesome.
