Well, the good thing is, it's not like if you put EMGs in there then decide that it didn't do enough for the guitar to make it worth it, you can always take them out and put them in some other guitar later on. Just make sure you keep all the parts that are in there now in case you need to swap them back and ditch the guitar on Ebay hehehe.
Or, just save up and get something else.

Emthrax, I have a cheap GAX70 and it has a Duncan Distortion in the bridge and a Full Shred in the neck. I never heard the guitar stock as I bought the guitar this way. I had some fun experimenting with this guitar as I replaced the 6 slotted screws on the DD with allen poles and the distortion was tighter and more focused. I wanted the Full Shred to sound warmer so I sort of made it into a split vintage taking out 3 pole pieces from, opposite ends on the 2 bobbins, perfect for jazz now (even in a cheap guitar like this).
I know all guitars vary and I can't speak of the GAX30 and not sure if this is even the same body wood as my GAX70, but I couldn;t expect mine to sound any better for the price I paid.
Jackson-Charvel, you are very clever. I admire your creativity, I would not have thought to do that. I'll keep that little tidbit of info in my hat.
Can I just say that I had no idea there were so many choices in pickups? I started out wanting EMGs, but decided I'd rather have a better guitar with EMGs instead. Like- a Jackson. LOL.
So then I looked into DiMarzio...(which are awesome) but now I'm looking at Carvins. I'm intrigued that their humbuckers have 22 poles instead of 12- and they offer a 10-day trial so if I hate 'em I can send them back.
Anyway, that's where I am now. [img]images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/img]
