how exactly does that no modd floyd work. how does stay mounted with the strings pulling forward on it? it doesn't use any springs from what i see...and its a floyd so its not a bigsby-type vibrato...*scratches head*

It actually has a whole pile of minisprings on the back. You simply remove the tunomatic, and replace with the Floyd. I've tried the Wonderbar, Kahler and Floyd models, and I prefer the Wonderbar over the other two. The Kahler requires a huge hole to be dug, while the Floyd doesnt, it just feels flimsy and obtrusive compared to the Wonderbar........Of course for normal guitars I dont really like the Wonderbar, and I prefer the Kahler flatmount........So, I guess it all depends on what you like, and what style you play. Which is true for all guitar gear............

I guess since I don't view LP's as the "Holy Grail" of guitars and don't worship them I say route 'em out and floyd 'em ALL! To me they are $450 guitars with a $3000 logo. Of course your mileage may vary.

I guess you didn't click the links I left on the 1st page titled "BOTTOM"

I thought it was self explanatory. And yes this is a REAL Floyd Rose not a licensed version.

And you can adjust the spring tension relatively easy with the screws on the ends of the spring block from the rear of the unit. I think its damn genious, but like someone else said your miles may vary.

Re: Ever want that Les Paul w/ a Floyd?

I always thought a Les Paul with a factory installed original Floyd Rose would be sweet.

Re: Ever want that Les Paul w/ a Floyd?

Do whatever floats your boat I say. But if you want to turn your $3000.00 investment into a $400.00 one, knock your socks off! Besides the value-killing aspect of it, there is that much wood on a Les Paul for a reason. It's going to kill a LOT of the tone.

Re: Ever want that Les Paul w/ a Floyd?

Putting a Floyd Rose in a Les Paul is like putting booties on a bull, it just doesn't belong

                      That would effectively:

                      A) Destroy any possible resale value of the guitar IMO

                      B) Drastically alter the sound and sustain of the guitar probably to the negative side

                      c) It just wouldn't "look" right...I mean, the Les Paul has always been known for a TOM / stop tailpiece guitar....which offers many benefits over some other types of bridges (yes, and some cons also).

This is just my opinion....would I ever do it, no way in Hell would I alter my LPC with a Floyd.....and not due to the resale value, as I don't plan to ever get rid of it and hopefully Mrs LPC will honor my wishes and bury me with it

i have done quite a few conversions for customers and they don't lose any great amount of tone. they sound just fine. next one i do is for me.

I like the idea of a LP with a Floyd. I play old
Deans which are the same scale as a LP. If I found an old LP or Dean butchered with a Kahler I would put a Floyd on it.

Years ago, I may have wanted a Floyd on an LP... but no way would I ever route for it. I'd just use the stud-mounted version shown in this thread. You can always change it back to the stoptail/TOM without a problem.

I have one exactly like that only it doesnt have fine tuners. I think they stopped making them because they suck........

Found this on the LP Forum. Seems Mr. Rose will be making a Speedloader version eventually. http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/sh...ighlight=Floyd
