• Class Axe Era BC Rich Custom Shops?

So I know Class Axe really **** with BC Rich, but how were the custom shops from that era?

There is this really bad ass Ironbird on ebay right now from 91 I think.
Serial is B 9060 I think.

Did CA manage to screw everything up ?

0 feedback, asking for more than $100, and Class Axe was run by Ed Roman.

When Class Axe was running the show Ed Roman was not in charge. He bought up a lot of Class Axe's stuff at a later date.

ed roman was NOT class axe. i would get better pics.
accept2 your eagle sounds like a ed roman conversion or an import made to look like a usa. USA bcrich bolt on necks are one piece, any scarf joint its an import of fake.
with a b9060 your getting into transition time. ask about hardware, grovers, ask if the mini toggle have the tabs on the washers, get pics of the routes & headstock front & back. if you can, i can help ID it better

Class axe guitars arent bad, just you get some bad ones here & there, the big thing was they werent the same as Cali BCRichs. kinda like ontario/san dimas different routes, recessed floyds, just not the same.

I did actually get better pictures, the tuners are grover, and the headstock looks like as if it is all one piece.

Re: Class Axe Era BC Rich Custom Shops?

Ed Roman running Class Axe doesn't sound like such a far fetched idea. I doubt it's true but it would explain the junk i have seen from that era. I bought a 91 NJ Warlock thinknig it was going to be the same quality of the NJ Bich I had from 84... Boy was I wrong.

Ed has only been a dealer of BCR guitars. He never in any way shape or form ran BCR. He was a dealer of BCR even in the pre Class Axe days. This was verified to me by Mal Stitch, who worked at BCR with Neal Moser and crew.

That guitar looks killer. I've been jonesing for an Ironbird for a while now. USA versions seem to be pretty hard to track down though. Don't know much about BC Rich history, but most of their guitars I"ve played have been good quality.

Re: Class Axe Era BC Rich Custom Shops?

paddok if you can get pics of the routes they are sure signs of where its made. Class Axe actually completed California made Neck& body's for a few years. I think the SELLER is wrong i think its closer to 88/89. grovers, Kahler Pro, active ellectronics doesnt sound class axe to me.
if you want email pics

Hmm. My bad on the Ed Roman news - I guess that's why I never bought a BC Rich

Re: Class Axe Era BC Rich Custom Shops?

OK thats one of the oddball routes. its hard to date them since they were used at the end of Cali era BUT Class axe got the left over bodys & necks from Cali so it maybe one they finished/completed. the electronics look right but ive NEVER owned or saw the ellctronics on class axe guitars. Ken/WX7 may be able to help out IDing it since he worked for ClassAxe
