• SG copies?

So how come there isn't that many Sg copies? I was looking into them, and i don't really see any nice ones... There are like 2 on ebay that look like the gibson versions but thier at like 500+ because of it being rare?

The ones i'm looking for are the ones that Look close or exactly the same. no funky headstoccks.

Tokai makes a very nice Korean-made SG Standard copy for a reasonable price. The one I played was very nice--did you see it, it was at Action Music for quite awhile? It was one of the few new guitars I've seen Matt carry at that store.

Have you looked into the Gibson SG Faded, I got one used for a real good price, way under $500 in nice shape. I like it alot and it's made in the USA. I know where you you can get one under the $500 price w/c, but I don't know if I can post the address.

GMP makes a nice one - the SGMP model. I think Easton Guitars has one in stock.

Re: SG copies?

Actually there are many.
If you want something close to Gibson, expect to spend more.
CHeesy bolt on,Korean made SGs are cheaper.
Because you are looking to spend much less, there aren't many options.
If you want one that plays and sounds good enough to play, you will to spend at least $400-500.
If not , you probably spend $300 for the guitar but will end up spending $200 for pickups and instalation fee.
If you are not buing one just to hang on yoru wall, spend little more and buy a decent SG guitar.

I don't know abotu spending 200 bucks for pickups i usually just go for the bridge and leave the neck alone.

I'm a poor college student so i can't go for the awesome stuff

Re: SG copies?

ok, the best thing you can do is get in a band, become popular and get a Gibson deal.
So you can get your SGs for free.

Re: SG copies?

That guitar has no trussrod; I'd avoid that.

I have a Samick SG450 which is like the Epi G400 but with neck binding. It's a nice guitar, though the bridge pickup squeals so it needs potted, or better yet a new bridge pickup. I got it for $140 on Ebay and it's pretty nice. The headstock's a little different but not ugly to me.

You might check out the Agile SG copies; a lot of people seem to like their Les Paul copies.
