haha ^

I'm leaning towards the Burny. Those Gibson Faded Sg's don't appeal to me...

Re: What would you guys rather get?

I saw that as well. It looks good, just the hardware is a little tarnished/rusty screws but the rest looks clean. It's a copy of a early 60's SG. The neck should be wide and flat if it matches early to mid 60's. I liked these as well:

              Great buy:

The early 70's have a narrow nut width, the wide tune O matic bridge-a different feel than a 60's SG...still great players. This is about market price so it should be worth it as is described with little play. I've seen guys trying to sell beat ones similar to this for same money.

              nice price-so far:

how much do you think this would go for that you posted?

and for that Greco SG i posted, if the price stays at 300 dollars would that be a great buy @ 420$ ?

Re: What would you guys rather get?

beats me, if I could see the future I'd be winning the lotto every week. I personally think the 2004 SG it should stay under 500.00 but it looks like that one guy wants it pretty bad.. so it depends if there is a bid war or if someone snipes it at the last minute, what his last bid amount is and if there are other takers etc. It may creep over the 500.00 mark with variables in play.

The Burny, well.. I personally think that most mid 80's MIJ set neck copies at 300.00 from Japan are about right. I've only seen one go at about 255.00 BIN and it was a nice clean Greco SG in black one of those Japan sellers was trying to blowout, .. and it sold right away. I've never owned a Burny, but I have been happy with Fernandes in the past. Would I buy it for 420.00? I think that price with shipping is pretty much top dollar I would pay but I can wait a year for a 'deal' to come around cause I can be rather cheap. Most USA sellers are getting savvy to the market price of these MIJ copies but occasionally you get a no reserve auction for one and it'll go for less. I think it's a fair price, I'd pay it..but you'll probably want to put a little work into cleaning it up, ie; fret polish, soaking some screws to remove rust, etc. the rest of it looks good and if the fretwear is as decribed.. you should have that for a long time with no problems.

You could let the auction wind down and see if there are no bids and if he relists for a 15.00 cut. I have not paid more than 430.00 for any MIJ copy..and that was for a Greco Super Real which are now getting over 500.00. I've seen super real SG's, but they are pretty rare, more rare than a Les Paul.

It's a difficult one to weigh. I personally think I'd be happy with the Burny@ 400.00 shipped, especially since it's more of a 60's reissue and I personally like that era SG's... so for 20.00 I wouldn't cringe to much... No case tho!.. and there are alot of USA Gibby SG's on ebay selling with cases *but* they are not accurate reissues and the ones that are are going for ALOT more. 420.00 vs 4200.00, I think the 420.00 is a deal as I believe they probably rival the present day reissues going over a grand.

So I'd say it is reissue copy VS a present day real deal. I think the Burny would put some of these Gibsons into the weeds for the money and if you decide to get a better Gibson later down the road, you probably would not lose much if any. Your only cost additionally is a case. Score a black or maybe a brown Gibson case for 80-100.00.

I rather like the '83 Gibson standing at 295.00 w/ protector case, but that is still 5 days out and will probably go over 400.00.

Re: What would you guys rather get?

I'm pretty sure all those gibsons are going to go well over 500

So my final choices are a Burny Sg for about 420 or a Faded sg that's about 475. The Burny appeals to me so much.. more then the Gibson. Old things appeal to me.

that looks sweet, but for 650 it's too much

Gawd.. i don't know which one to shoot for. The Gibson feels like a risk to me, when i tried it at the store it felt like a half assed guitar, and the burny looks totally awesome, and since i have a Greco Les Paul Custom and i love it to death i think i might go for the burny.

That three-pickup Burny SG Custom copy is sitting at $300 right now, although it hasn't met reserve. Obviously the reserve could be quite high, but that would be my choice of the Burny SGs that I see on eBay. You might consider probing to see if the reserve is within your limit before that other black '61 reissue auction ends. Personally, I wouldn't want to pay $120 shipping on a $300 guitar--I don't think it's worth it, and you might have a hard time getting all that back if you decided to sell.

I would say that guy is gonna want at least 500.00-600.00 for his reserve since his BIN was 650. I'd be suprised if it's less.
