• Moser guitar found locally

So I am out picking up contacts for my girlfriends kid and I stop in at a local shop to look at used guitars. Hanging on the rack is a Moser 2 pickup dinky-ish body guitar. Here is the description as best I can remember.

Jackson-ish headstock
dot inlays
EMG81 bridge
EMG89 neck
recessed Kahler Spyder
2 knobs
3 way toggle
body back was dark natural like violin brown
body top was 3 different types of wood
if I remember correctly dark on the wings section lighter on the middle section with lacewood stringers ala BC Rich

I don't remember much else about it. The seller told me the neck is a Warmoth Cocobolo(sp) wood. He told me he emailed Neal pics of the guitar and Neal remembered it. (told the seller he made several just like it) He also said Neal told him that Lee somebody (Garver) made the bodies for these
guitars.

Only had a couple small dings in the body.

What would one expect to pay for this guitar as described? I know very little about Moser's guitars.

That would look sweet.
I would say $400-600?
I would love to own one in the future.

Check ebay's completed auctions. A few Mosers sold for fairly cheap recently. Neal's work is top notch. His new customs ain't cheap but for some reason the old ones are selling very cheaply.

So I guess the $700 asking price is a bit high, huh?

$700... but if the body has 3piece exotic wood and they look cool, why not to spend $700?
But then I would hate the kahler Floyd Trem they used to use on older Mosers and wish it was a real Floyd.
Any pics?

the Mosers you see selling cheap are assembled mass produced parts usually. warmoth NOS jackson bcrich parts. Neal is the M in GMW so Lee making bodies for a Moser guitar isnt uncommon. Neals fretwork & setup work is awesome. As far as i know if it doesnt have his signature its NOT a handmade Moser.

Anyone know what the 'W' in GMW stands for?.....
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

[/ QUOTE ] I read somewhere that the W stands for Wizard, regarding Dan Lawrence. Don't know if it is true or not.

That's correct...W is for Wizard...that's what they call Dan Lawrence for obvious reasons.

BTW, Stutka, the colored fonts gotta go bro!

A nick name for Dan. You can see a line "Airbrush Wizard Dan Lawrence" in the Jackson catalog of 2003.

But if not as Sully says above, it could be for Worldclass escort service..

The "W" in GMW was originally Pat Wilkins, who did the paint and finish work prior to Dan Lawrence coming in. Pat still does custom work out of Van Nuys, CA last time I spoke to him in '02.
