I just read three threads on this at the Les Paul Forum, and man o man. The townspeople are gathering in the square, torches lit.
It is true. It is also at the "request" of Musicians Friend, Music 123, etc. The deal is that the small dealers can, for example, post pics of each R9 they have in stock, and the big sheds can't do this. Welcome to Wal Mart style business, kiddies. Enjoy the small shops while they are aound, cause they won't be in a few years. Fender is taking out the small builders, Gibson is killing the small dealers. When the smoke clears there will be two makers and GC/MF.

BTW, how'd ya like to swim in a 30% price increase? Gibson just did that, too...

O.k. - back to ranting :

Gibson is going to shoot themselves in the foot in a big way - at least on the new market...but the reality is I don't think most of us mortals can afford them new anyway - used is so the way to go...I paid $1500 for mine - about $750 - 800 less than a deal on a new one - and it's near mint....I looked around a bunch - $1100 - 1500 will get you an awesome Les Paul....there was some killer eye candy out there - but a $7000 aged Murphy Les Paul will never be in my sights...I agree with Chuck - there's some evil **** going on....

You guys are right...there are some sketchy goings-on within the big companies as well as my company that are starting to make my stomach turn. I'm glad you like your Les Pauls though--I've tried to sell 3 of them in the past week with no luck!!

We've got some Jacksons, all imports. The best one we have is an SLSMG. We've got one of the new JS Series Rhoads guitars too, but I've heard that Fender's gonna pump some more money into Jackson really soon and we're gonna get some USA Jacksons in stock.
