Got my first American Guitar ^_^

a 1983 Gibson Les Paul Studio in Black. Man this thing is awesome! i hate the pickups though, they don't give the umph that i want.

There's a old 1988 Lynrd Skynrd sticker on it. does this look like the original case for it?

I'm not a Les Paul sort of guy, but I thought the Studio series came out in the early '90's. According to the year on your guitar, that wouldn't be correct. Do you know when the Studio line was introduced? Just curious.

Studios have been around a while - I think t '85 or so. The first was the "Studio Standard" which had a bound fingerboard and dot inlays.

Not likely. Its a "Protector" case, which I think was phased out in the mid 80's for the brown tolex cases. In any case, Studio level guitars didn't ship with cases.

Studios rock!! [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] I got a faded cherry '04 model and put in the EMG ZW set, the 85 in the bridge and 81 in the neck, and the guitar sounds awesome! [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Mine shipped with a "geek" bag but my wife bought my studio (alpine white with ebony fretboard/trapezoid inlays and gold hardware) as a gift and she "insisted" that it have an excellent hardshell case so "we" [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] talked the salesman into giving us one "on the house" [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]. I love that guitar, it plays great. Enjoy your Studio!! </font>
