  • dean evo and hardtail question

    any dean owners here?
i was wondering what the neck carve/shape is like on a dean evo and a dean hardtail. i'm interested in the select series which seems like a good deal for approx $500.

and what is the url for the dean forum?

    thank!!!

Dean selects are stupid good deals! Take it from a guy with quite a few american hardtails.

I've played a few Dean Selects and they're great. High quality imports for sure.

I am also going to check out an EVO for a LP type of guitar, I have everything but a single cut. Jack.

They are so nice that they are really a stupid move by Dean. Granted, the pickups need to be swapped, frets could be looked over, but the fit and finish is ALMOST undetectable. Though, obviously, they are a bit heavier.

do the hardtails have a v shaped neck carve or a c shaped?

Re: dean evo and hardtail question

Hardtails are C shaped. I think the only V shaped Dean necks are on the Time Capsule series.

                The Dean forum is here:

As for Selects, you won't find a nicer made or better appointed import guitar.

I had an EVO Phantom that was fantastic. Even the stock pickups were great, which is almost unheard of on a Korean axe. The neck was very comfortable, but after playing Jackson and Hamer "shredders" for years, I just couldn't adapt to the narrow profile. Too bad, because it sounded sooooo good. Mahogany body, top and neck, and an ingenious neck joint that puts Gibson's to shame.
