BC Rich Platinum Assassin

Does anyone out there know anything about BC Rich Platinum Assassin guitars?
From what I can tell, they are Japanese (or at least foreign, anyway).
1H2S, 4 digit serial#, with graphic.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

From what I remember, the Platinum series of BC Rich was made in Korea and was the line below the NJ Series...there's a completed ebay auction for a snakeskin one...with a very cheesy single-locking trem...

You'd be better off getting a used USA Assasin, Gunslinger or ST3. They can be had pretty cheap, especially if you like crackle finish.

I don't know jack about BCRs.
The snakeskin one is the one I was asking about.
He offered it to me for a fairly low price, so I was considering it.
The cons were:
1- not a Jackson/Charvel
2- The bridge
3- Girlfriend says it's ugly

Guess I will pass.

I will never trust BC Riches lower lien of guitars ever again after owning a warlock a few years ago. Absolutely the worst instrument i've ever played next to that Jay Turser strat copy...

Absolutely atrocious (sp?), i would consider the USA stuff or the stuff from the 80's however... [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Tony, yes, stay away from that Ebay one! The bridge isn't worth the metal it's made from and the stud spacing is way off so you can't drop a floyd in it. Also the behind the nut string lock is a cheesy version.

zeegler is right, just keep looking for a 'real' Assasin or 'slinger or ST...I found this recently on ebay for $199, a USA ST in purple crackle. A couple body dings to wood, but otherwise its great! I'm putting a gunslinger maple neck on it as I like maple fingerboard and reverse headstock.

MTDOG, please let me know if your selling the original neck. ive got a ST-3 with a cracked neck. so far ive bought 4 ST-3s trying to find a replacement neck & NONE have been up to my standards yet. its amazing how the quality varies so much after a certain point with BCR.....F'n sad.

j2379...yes, would be willing to sell the original neck to you. What's been the problem with all those other necks you bought?? What 'standards' are you looking for? I just got this recently and haven't really examined it too much (since I knew I would swap the neck out), but from what I remember the neck is pretty good. You'll note on my pic that the logo is light yellow for some reason vs the norm white (and it does say Made in USA). I'll check it out more closely tomorrow and take some pics for you.
