• I need some help, brothers!

i'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, i dunno where to quite put it, but, maybe it'll get moved?

anyways, so i'm trying to get rid of my late 80's (?) SN:25550, snow white BC Rich gunslinger. Now, i tried to make a trade on it with the Columbus Music Go Round, and yeah, they lowballed me. I figured i could swap it with some 300 dollar ibanez (one of the s classics. and they definitely got the description wrong on it when they described it to me) They told me they'd sell it for $199 (wtf?), and give me like 80-100 bucks. dudes, what the hell? i mean, the damned guitar is pretty much Pristine. No pick swirls, no scratches. 1 Ding, on the back cutout. All original, SD TB-4, licenced BC Rich floyd, the grovers (reverse stock), Made in USA on headstock.

is that what the resale value is??? is that what i'm to expect? if so, damn, bros, i might as well keep the thing. anyone else know of a better place to put it (other than evilbay)? i'm thinking Sam Ash and GC won;t do much better. I was hoping to trade it off for one of those new Ibanez SZ 320 MH's.

any help on if i should expect to get any better pricing on this? and is this thing pre-class axe or what (just for my own curiosity)
thanks for reading and replying!

I suppose you probably already realize this, but any trade-in deal is almost certainly going to give you very little value for your Gunslinger. The reason is that the dealer is in business to make a profit and any guitar that you trade in, he has to turn around, put it on the wall and attempt to profit on. Another point to consider is that no matter how much us guys here on the JCF like shred-style guitars with locking trems, that's not a huge market these days. So many dealers are most likely going to be reluctant to take in a used guitar that they feel might have very limited appeal and thus sit in their inventory for a very long time. Think about it this way, too: if a dealer gave you a lot of value for your trade-in, he might not make any money on the Ibanez that you want until he sells/moves the B.C. Rich. In essence, he'd be giving the Ibanez away with no money (profit) in his pocket. And then he'd be back to facing a potentially very small market for an '80's shred machine.

Not trying to be harsh, just filling you in on what I've learned from a friend of mine that has managed music/guitar shops for about 15 years.

You'd probably be best to try to sell the Gunslinger here on the JCF Classifieds or perhaps on eBay. You might also try some of the free listing services on the net. I sold off my Ibanez JPM P4 a few years ago literally within hours of putting it up on the net.
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

yea, most of the dealers will offer the lowest.
Have you tried Chris Guitars?
Anyway, resell value of late 80's BC Rich are terrible as you see on E-bay, these usually go from $300-400.
Good luck.

A music store like Music-Go-Round or GC is the worst place to sell used gear, unless its something on the rare side. Try eBay or the classifieds on a few websites first.

resale value on bolton bcrichs is crap. its probably NOT pre class axe, thats an odd serial unless its after 95.
