Also, if it were me, I would avoid putting the p/u covers back on. They are a major pain in the 3-p/u LPs, since the covers raises the pickup level and makes it even more difficult to find 'picking space'.

I noticed that too and I don't intend on reinstalling the covers.
Do you think the 15.46K pickup could be a bridge pickup? It only says Gibson USA on the bottom of it. It is a 4 conductor pickup. The bridge pickup is a 2 conductor and has an extremely long braided lead.
So.. here is what I know so far:
      Ebony fretboard
      Large headstock
      Large volute
      3 pc neck
      Serial # 11111
Made in U.S.A. stamped under the serial #
So far I am stumped. My guess so far is that it is a very late 69 or 70 or a very early 71.

I'd say so. I would swap the pickups around and put the higher powered one in the bridge with the lower powered one in the neck.

Here is how I am installing the pickups.
4 conductor Gibson USA 15.46K is going in the bridge
4 conductor Seymour Duncan Jazz 7.4K is going in the middle
2 conductor Gibson PAF 8.79K is going in the neck
