  • Sully Build class guitar

My latest guitar acquisition. Built as a student of Sully's build class. The build class was an amazing experience, lots of new experiences and a lot more appreciation/love of the instrument. Need to get the neck oiled and the body finished, but I've been playing this a whole lot!

    Specs

    Body: Mahogany 624 (SuperStrat) template
    Neck: Roasted Maple
    Fretboard: 24.75" Pale Moon Ebony
    Frets: 22 Jumbo nickle
    Tuners: Gotoh non-locking
    Bridge: Hipshot hardtail
Pickups: Sully pickups built by Grover Jackson
Controls: Vol, 3-way switch Push/Pull Tone to spit the coils
Any way you could possibly put more shit into your sig?

I’d just oil the body too and call it done, it looks great as is!

Top is going to be trans emerald green, back and sides are staying natural. Wiping it down with naphtha shows some breathtaking grains. As Sully said when he did it, "here's a preview if you're going to clear it.... doesn't suck"

        No sir, it does not.

I just saw that on the FB group. Looks awesome! A trans color will still show off the sweet wood grain.

The trans emerald green will look sweet! Curious, how much sanding (and tacos) was really involved in the build?

There was a shit ton of sanding, however I embraced it. A comment Sully made, "So, there's not a lot for me to do on tomorrow's list other than watching you sand and your spirit being broken." something along those lines. Had my spirit broken a couple times and pulled through. Sanding away in Sullyville will be a good time! Mind over matter. 80grit, followed by 120, 180 then 220 and finally a 220 buffing pad. Same on the neck, and when you think you have the cross grain scratches out, look closer and keep sanding. He's spotting shit and I'm going, "where.. ohhhhh, I see it now."

As far as tacos, yeah REAL tacos? Friday we hit an authentic restaurant for lunch and got tacos al carbon. I actually sought out some places for dinner during the week that had tacos on the menu, but they were less than authentic. Then Saturday, day 6.... "Do you want to have the best tacos in Dallas?"
              "Ummmm yeah!!"

Fuel City, another bit of a hike but damn fine tacos! Usually voted the best in Dallas.

Update on the paint. Should be shipping back to me in the next couple weeks. Beyond stoked as to how this came out, can't wait to see it in person and get it back together.
