While I was looking for Les Pauls, I think I came across some nice Vs from late 70's-80's.
Now I got to go back and find these out for you.

But that red color one should be VERY hard to find.
        Only 25made?
Even one of these pops up , expect some modifications.
Such as Kahler trem.It is pretty common in 80's.

          This is close.
          Headstock is matching color.

ANother thing you can do is to find similar one in different color and refinish it.
          Would be faster I think.

            Hey Scott,
I had an 82 Gibson V myself. It was my favorite guitar of all time. Anyhow, during my marriges breakup I gave it to one of my brothers to hold so my wife wouldn't play any games with it. He decided to trade it for, get this, an entire set of those little star wars figurines, like the whole 1st run of them, still in their packaging. When I found out I gave him the option of me kicking his ass or me kicking his ass. Later, when all the bleedin was done, I felt much better, but I was still out one pristine flying V. To this day, I hate Luke Skywalker with a passion. And Obi-Wan? He can bite my ass.

dinkyjacksonman, the Gbase Gear site is asking ludicrous prices for their stuff. They have a TV yellow V (a basic crap model) that was signed by Fleetwood Mac and given to a Houston DJ. Asking price $4500. Pfft!

Thanks for checking, I do appreciate it.

GermanDeath - Actually I wasn't offering it, just stating they can be had for a ton cheaper than a gibson for about the same quality. I doubt I'll sell it any time soon, I love it to death.

Haha, yeah, I did both A and B. I have since forgiven him, he always was a dork, but I will never let him hold anything for me again. I am still having a blast with the SG, it plays so well. I was going to replace the neck pup, but I am really getting to love it after all.

Re: Looking For A Flying V

Get a faded series V cheap and send it to rs guitarworks and get it refinned in red.It will be way cheaper than those silly prices. They just did a schenker black and white V that looked awesome.
                        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Thanks for the recommendation, but a cheapy fake-o is not what I'm looking for. I don't mind paying realistic high prices, I just can't bend over for these insane prices on guitars listed as "seconds."

Re: Looking For A Flying V

The faded series USA Gibsons are all mahogony and are not a cheapy fake-o.They are the way to go if want a quality guitar for a little money$499.00.Do some sanding ,grain fill etc and shoot your color and you have a USA Gibby in the color you want.As far as seconds go (gibson)if the paint has a little imperfection or the logo is off center they stamp a 2 on the back of the headstock and ship it out.
It does not really hurt the value that much when it comes time to sell not to the collector anyway.I set up at a lot of guitar shows and the Gibson 2's sell just as quick as the other Gibsons.

it's actually just a regular humbucker and a single coil inside the same ring. i find it looks much cooler than the regular H-S-S pattern, and i like the sound of the bridge single coil better than the typical middle. the other benefit is the picking room in between the pickups
