  • BC Rich NJ w/Speed Loader

Has anyone tried these yet? I've never been a big BC Rich fan but I've always liked the Warlock and Mockingbird bodies. So I'm thinking of picking up one of the Speed Loader equipped models and tossing in 81/85 EMGs.

    Any opinions?

I've already got an Ibanez Jem with a Speed Loader, I'm looking to get another. I was more looking for feedback on the current NJ BC Rich guitars themselves.

I've played a Bich NJ Speedloader. It was very wierd to play a guitar without tuning pegs. The floyd rose didnt feel any different than the original, the necks are pretty thick. They do sound pretty cool though.

The new NJ's are made of better material. THeyre mahogany with ebony boards now unlike previous years. They should be pretty good.

I've heard mostly bad things about the speedloaders on the N.J. Riches but I've never tryed one myself so what do i know anyway i've heard they've been discontinued on the bcr's anyway.

Tim, What's your take on the speedloader? I think it's an incredible bridge. It takes a bit more tweaking during setup, but once you get it dialed in, I think it works great. I just wish you could use regular strings, but then again, that would go against the whole philosophy of the bridge.

                Just curious on your opinion.

hippietim: when you started this thread, I had just ordered a clearance 2003 ASM (strat body) from Music123 (was $799 now $349). I just received last night. I must say I am impressed with the guitar and the speedloader. The specs on mine are the same as shown on bc rich website for 2004 models: mahogany body and ebony board, etc. One thing that is not apparent from the website is that the back of the neck is painted (same color as body), which is slightly unusual for a bolt on neck.

I had previously downloaded the speedloader instructions from floydrose.com, so I knew how to adjust it. (the guitar did NOT come with these instuctions!). I tweaked the truss rod to get the neck a little flatter, brought the strings up to pitch (was shipped about 1 step down), and was playing it in a matter of minutes. The neck feels very comfortable, close enough to all my Jacksons, Charvels, BC Richs, Ibanez, etc that I felt immediately at home on it.

Quality of the hardware, wood, paint, and everything is great. And I agree with Sambencuda, I think the speedloader is great. In fact I liked the guitar and bridge so much I went back on music123 to try to buy the red one they had on clearance, but it was already gone....

The Speed Loader kicks ass. It's a Floyd and you can change strings in a couple minutes.

BTW, according to the BC Rich web site: [ QUOTE ]
Reinvented from the ground up, the all-new NJ Series takes performance and attitude to a new level. All NJ guitars now feature the revolutionary new Floyd Rose™ SpeedLoader™ tremolo bridge.

I think it's great. Mine was setup great at Floyd's shop in Redmond. It is sooooooo much better than the Ibanez lo-pro-edge-whatever. The sustain is better, the tone is a tad thicker, feels real solid and it stays in tune great.
