  • Jems over priced?

Any Ibanez Jem owners? I have yet to try one but I dunno if you get as much quality for what you pay. Sure there are some neat features but do they compare to a USA Jackson?. They just lack some things I would like to see when dropping that kind of cash. neckthru construction, ebony fingerboard, binding. Opinions?
Just have yet to be convinced by an Ibanez as being high end, more like very good mid priced at best. Dont get me wrong I owned a older S540LTD and it was quite the nice and versitile guitar.

I've played a few JEMs and while I always wanted one, after playing them I couldn't justify the price. Don't get me wrong, they are nice guitars. Instead of buying a new JEM, I would rather get an RG550 and a used US Jackson. But that is just my opinion.

I think it is priced high because it is a signature model.
They play great though especially the White Jem with Ebony fingerboard/Alder body.

They are awesome guitars. Are they overpriced? I dunno. Even though the RG's are decent guitars I know I've never played an RG that could touch my JEM. They are definitely a step up from the regular line. On the flip side, I don't care for the JS models at all.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Sorry, own alot of guitars, but Jems are special, without a doubt.

I've owned a few, and to buy new they are definitely overpriced. I would recommend trying to find one on ebay, or music go round, right Shawn?
I agree that they are very cool and unique guitars. I do prefer Breed equipped Jems over the Evo's, though.

You make a good point. I paid $1200 for an absolutely immaculate one, pre-owned. I certainly would not have shelled out $1800 or so for one. Although, I will say, now that I own one, and know how well they play, if the used ones were going for that kind of money, I would have paid it. Honestly, what I like among other things, is that it really sounds good in ALL of the positions, whereas, I personally thought the SL-1 I owned sounded like ass in the single positions. Sure, that can be changed, but why should you have to do anything to a $1500 guitar?
