Re: Calling Dean experts

Does it say made in Czech Republic on the back? If so, then it is indeed from a builder in Europe. Dean used to have them making their high-end stuff, from what I understand.

I've never played one, but I hear they're killer. US quality stuff. Lots of Dean owners swear by 'em.

The "LTD" on the truss rod cover is interesting, though...I'm wondering if that's from Dean's "Tropical Era" (when they were owned by Tropical Music, before Elliot bought the company and brought Dean Zelinsky back.)

Sorry to ramble. Bottom line: Sweet guitar!

How bout a review?

I've heard a lot of good things about the Czech models, and they seem to hold their resale value. I've never seen one around here, but I'd like to try one out myself.

That is a 96 USA made Dean. They were made in 96 in the USA and stamped in the fretboard with 96 designating the year and the rest being the serial # Great grab! It is a Tropical era ML I believe. Did Ben Chafin (Dean Master luthier) make these???

Re: Calling Dean experts

I just sold a Korina Euro Z that was mad in Czech. That would have a stamp (Gold) on the back of the headstock if it were a Euro Z and it would say something along the lines of "handcrafted in the Czech Republic.... Along with a serial #.

The 96's were made in Florida i believe. Like I said. Great grab Todd. Looks killer.

Re: Calling Dean experts

Yes. They are set neck. No heel though. Deans are great guitars. Even the newer ones from Korea are fantastic.

Re: Calling Dean experts

I kinda thought it was US made, but wasnt sure...... It has one of THE FATTEST NECKS Ive ever but my hands on. (think 57 Goldtop reissue, then add 10%) There is nothing stamped anywhere to indicate origin.
I plugged it up at rehersal last night and my whole band just stopped and turned around. No one could belive the Tone outta this....... It has a Brass V Tail piece and Input jack cover thing. ...Im Soooo tickled with this.......
Downsides...... Fret ends hang over the edge a little and need cleaning up. Rosewood needs some oil. Just needs a little TLC.
Final cost: 535 plus a little tax

Dean guitars are cool.
They always have hot chicks too.
