Re: Scott Ian\'s new Washburn

nuno's still kickin' it for washie. his N4's still a cool washburn model. and yeah, i hear the Stephen's Cutaway/neck joint's awesome. i'd kill for an NX6, personally.

and nick cantanese has his own Idol sig. model too (Evil Twin from BLS).

i think scott's leaving has to do with the overall endorsement deal. After all, he's a diehard Randall Warhead guy

[/ QUOTE ]Warhead? I thought he used a Cyclone or one of the other newer Randalls. Never seen him with that piece of crap Warhead.

Good call! That makes perfect sense. I hadn't thought about the Randall connection.

You know, maybe Jackson( with Fender's financing) should buy Mesa. That might help get some of those ESP,PRS,Ibanez guitars - Mesa amp endorsers (that you see every time you turn on the tv)over to Jackson for combination endorsement deals. I remember being in high school in the 80's, all you ever saw in videos, magazines, etc. were Charvel, Jackson, Kramer, BC Rich and some Gibsons. What happened to those days? It's a shame what Gibson has done with the Kramer name. A once great name in the guitar world reduced to cheap internet only guitars for the most part. They could do so much more with them. The 1984 and Sambora reissues are pretty cool, but I can't understand why they don't have a regular USA line. I guess that I should be happy that we still have American guitars like Jackson and Charvel around.

Who, on a side note, has just switched to Dean USA and has kicked his Randalls (they sound like **** IMO anyway) in the gutter in favor of Krank. The Dean move is no real surprise, the Randall one was a bit more, as he´s been raving about his Randalls since even before Cowboys From Hell.....

This is NOT speculation, this is real. I have a few sources near to Dimebag and Pat Lachman and all confirmed this

Re: Scott Ian\'s new Washburn

There is a reason for the Washburn/Dean thingamabober. Here are some highlights of it all:
Diamond wanted new Deans to replace his old ones.
Dean had no money to start up production.
Washburn was to buy Dean, build a shop, and have Dean run it.
Some company had another offer to build offshore Deans, and Dean wouldnt have to work, but just collect money.
Dean chose the other guys offer.
Washburn built the Dimebag guitars for the fatman.
Dean decides to pull a Bernie Rico, and takes back control of Dean and starts making real guitars.
Fatman's carreer tanks.
Fatman and Dean supposedly back together.
I think that about covers it. America, **** Yeah............

Speaking of Scott and Washburn, I think it was about two years ago I told everybody this was in the works and you all blasted me for it...remember...
"no, no, Scott wouldn't leave Jackson...I saw them live last week and Scott was using Jacksons all night...it can't be true..." Umm humm...keep talkin...

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to keep my sources confidential, but I was told that when Moosestaine was trying to buy Jackson and the deal went sour, he contacted some other endorsees and expressed his displeasure. It's no secret that Moosestaine and Scott are very good friends. So, the seed may have been planted quite some time ago.

I can see going back to Dean, but dropping Randall to play a Krank?!? I guess he really doesn't care about tone. I've heard nothing but bad things about Krank, but I guess he likes all the different, pretty colors they come in. Then again, how much worse can a Krank sound than the POS Warhead?? At least all the other Randalls he played were decent.

Re: Scott Ian\'s new Washburn

If the Krank amps really suck, it isn't that big a deal for a guy like Dime. He can have his amps moddified and rebuilt to his liking by Krank or anyone else. All he needs to do is say he uses Krank and have a bunch of dummy stacks or Krank heads filled with whatever guts he prefers and he can collect his check. It happens all of the time.
