    Re: ESP Kamikaze

I believe the older Kamikazes have the ESP logo parrallel to the tuning keys facing down. Also, I don't think they had the pic of the Kamikaze on it. I think that is later. Very cool.

      Re: ESP Kamikaze

That is definitely a custom shop. I've never seen a Kamikaze I with a maple neck. The only production one with maple was the Kami. IV.
Nice score, I had the LTD version and it was a good guitar for the money. I imagine a real ESP would be really nice.

Look at the logo placement on mine if you can make it out. Also look at the tiger vs Kamikaze I logo placement here to see what I am talking about.

it won't let me access your pic...i remember the tigers always had the logo you're describing, but i, personally, have never seen a kami-1 with that logo placement...are you sure yours wasn't a custom shop ordered that way?...d.m.

IIRC the early ones also had neck plates, not the recessed neck bolts. BDD i hope you still have that BCRich ST?

                  Re: ESP Kamikaze

Yeah I still have it. This is an old pic. The doubleck and Steinberger are gone. In addition to the remaining ones in the pic I have the BC Rich ST3, BC Rich Mockingbird, BC Rich ST Bass, 2 Fender parts strats, Hamer Studio, Fender Jazz Bass and a Dean Baby V Deluxe. I think I will photograph my collection this weekend. I will post them after.

dude...yours is DEFINITELY a custom...no production kamikaze ever had 2 single coils, a tone knob, or a pickup selector...you got a rare bird there dude...d.m.

                      Re: ESP Kamikaze

Mine isn't a custom. I added the middle pup, the 5way and the tone knob. I couldn't get used to the pull up volumne/selector and decided to mod it. Since I was doing that I move the neck pup to the middle and put a Seymour Duncan Cool Rail in the neck. The tone knob was originally a variable active boost from Dana Sutcliffe. When I got sick of the preamp I replaced it with a tone pot.

at this point i couldn't tell you...yours is the first kami i've seen besides george's that has the logo there...but i have seen other custom kamis in different colors too...so i wouldn't put anything pat the esp shop...unforunately i've been unable to locate much info on the serial numbers of kamis...but i'll keep looking...d.m.

Regardless of the history, they are very cool guitars.

                            Re: ESP Kamikaze

One of the easiest way to date Kamis is the early ones had a neck plate and no ESP custom shop logo on the back of the headstock. Somewhere in the 90s they went to the recessed bolts and burned in custom shop logo on the headstocks.

That is weird because I don't think mine has the custom shop logo, but I also don't think it has a neck plate.

Mine was made in 1990. No custom shop logo or neck plate either.
