JUST GOT it today off the UPS guy, and lo and behold I find this. A whole pick will fit in there.

Here's the problem , if I send it back , i'tll cost me 50$ to ship to the states back to music123.com , AND Ill have to pay 30$ to receive a new one in customs fee's from the border. Im totally screwed, and I KNOW music123.com wont fit the ball for us international customers.

Can anyone tell me if this is fixable by a decent tech. Is the binding seperate from the fingerboard, or is the fingerboard likely unglued too.

Im quite upset, I also ordered a new mic and boom cable (350$ there) and they forgot the cable I ordered (XLR for my C1, so I cant use it till they send it)

For a 500$ order they send me a **** up guitar and im missing a 20$ cable :s

WOW! that looks bad..
It should be able to put some glue in there but not sure if that will help or not though.
I'd say send it back and get a refund.

Then he's out $80.
A tech can fix that. Glue and clamp overnight...presto chango, no more problem.
Can't fix the missing mic cable, though. That takes a good old fashioned phone call.

Hey Chuck, any idea what kinda glue to use for that binding? As well, how the heck can I get it in there?

On a side note, what a nice looking guitar, im really impressed with the mahog natural body, great finish and I love the clean look!

Titebond, thinned with something, and a syringe.
Ask a local woodworking shop, furniture maker, home depot dude for advice on what to thin it with.

Hopefully someone here will chime in...

That is a very handsome guitar!

Re: is my new Ibanez RG screwed?!?!

it is quite a ncie guitar, thats why im so bummed. MUSIC123.com return poilcy is crap. They need to receive the item and they will send a replacement ONLY when its received and thewn RESEND. Well, the border fee's and my own shipping would just NOT be worth it.

Is the binding connected to the fingerboard? Im curious if this is a smaller problem then I think, or if the bindign and fingerboard are connected and there is a fundamental flaw with the guitar.

I'll post more pics when it's in 100% condition.

(1 more note, the tone control can be pulled out 1/4 of an inch, Ibanez uses CHEAP parts on the Korean builds) Im gonna mod it to be a lil higher quality in that debt though.

Im disappointed, ive owned 5 ibanez's now , and this one is nice looking, but the quality control is crap on it. Shouldnt leave the factory in this condition!

Is that brand new? it came out of the factory like that?
sh*t that's pretty scary if their QC is that bad
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Re: is my new Ibanez RG screwed?!?!

Yes, this is a brand new guitar from music123.com

The guitar was shipped in a case, and I ASSUME it wasnt exposed to any crazy temps or anything. This happened on BOTH sides as well. Make syou think eh, a Tone control know that feels like its ready to fall off, and a shoddy neck.

The body looks GREAT, the mahog body with natural finish REALLY appeals to me and looks classy. The neck feels nice too, frets arent too bad, but hey, even for 240$, I expect a LOT more!

My higher end Rg1620X certainly never had any of these flaws, but still not perfect.

*sigh* now remind me why I sold my SL2h, and my SL1 (besides the fact I dont like Floyd's or painted necks)

probably got that way sitting in their warehouse. I would call up their customer service dept and bitch until they send you a prepaid return box and credit the import fees. If the person you talk to says no, ask for their supervisor-if they say no as well, ask for their supervisor too. Keep going up the chain until you talk tot he owner if you have to. At least you can take out your frustration on their employees. I had to do it with Hewlitt Packard one time...and it worked.

That is a sharp looking guitar, I hope you get the situation resolved in your favor.

Re: is my new Ibanez RG screwed?!?!

The trouble is, if it arrives like that new, you don't know what other issues you might have if you try to fix it - and if the fix doesn't take, or you find other problems after gluing the board down, it doesn't matter, because return won't be an option. My advice is eat the $80 and send it back. I'm Canadian, I know what it's like to take a hit, but you gotta expect the occasional misfire when you're buying guitars sight-unseen from another country. Also, I've dealt with Music123 and found them to be very reasonable, but their return policies are CLEAR: you can't bitch at them because you didn't read the fine print, and you sure can't expect a music warehousing company to be interested in refunding our government's extortionist taxes... Bottom line is you should drive out to AXE Music or Long & McQuade and buy your guitars there if you want to get something fine-tooth-comb-examined BEFORE you buy: there's a reason the prices at Music123 and Musicians' Friend are so cheap. That's a new Ibanez feature. On-board pick-holder. No need to use clunky, double-sided tape on the headstock anymore.
(JK, nice looking axe).
