I cant comment on the Mustaine model but I do have a LTD Lynch GL600MT. It is a great guitar for the money. It plays great and sounds excellent. It was less then half the price of the ESP M1 on closeout. Real floyd,SD Screamin Deamon and all maple contruction. The only flaw I could find was when i removed the trem cavity plate there were two small holes where it looks like Hop Singh routed a little too deep when routing for the pickup height adjustment screws. I did have to have to search out 3 diffrent guitars to find one that i was happy with. The necks on all three had slightly diffrent back shapes on them. One was quite a bit thicker then the other two. I pick the one in the middle. I like it so much I may buy the real deal if i can find it at the right price.
I played the Dv8 a few weeks ago and it played really well. Very thick where the neck joings the body though. Neck is thin and wide. Good fit and finish.
I wanted to know about these also. They specs look good for the price and the reviews are very good on HC and MF. I've been wanting a V lately and the DV8 is a consideration - especially if LE#2 isn't a RR
Oh yeah, Predator1, I just played that same Lynch model yesterday and it was sweet. Now that the LTD has a maple body, Screamin Demon, and OFR, I don't see the price justification for the M1 (unless you find a good deal on a used one).
jwoods, the price justification can be found in the consistent quality of ESP Japan, better selected woods and electronics and sometimes even differences in the models compared to the LTD Koreans. I often find LTD (even Deluxes) with blemishes, paint over binding, careless finish flaws and electronic problems. A guy named TwilighOddessey on the Seymour Duncan forum thinks the LTDs are dirt compared to his ESP Lynches. The neck also feels different. I don't hate LTDs in fact I love them, and maybe ESPs are a little too expensive compared to their little brothers, but the difference could be justified in price
Sure the LTD Lynch is great bang for the buck, but it just doesn't compare to the real deal ESP
Like I said before I had to play 3 of them to find one I was happy with. I felt that at $599.00 with case it was still the best deal around for a 1 hum ,OFR equipped shredder.

I agree fully with this statement. The LTDs Ive seen have, for the most part, been ok for the price but crap compared to the ESP or Jackson USA originals. Sure, for players that don´t want or need the "Real Thing" they´re more than ok. But 90% of them easily fail a direct A/B test when it comes to materials and workmanship.
Another good reason to buy Jacksons
I know the LTD isn't going to be as nice as a ESP but here's my point. The GL500-K (discontinued Kamikaze LTD) listed for $999 (street $699) and had a basswood body, a laminate graphic, Duncan-designed pups, and a lisc. Floyd. The new Lynch LTDs list for $1199 and have maple bodys, SD pup, and OFR for only $140 more ($839 street). I'm looking at MF right now and they have a M1 Tiger for $1649 and the LTD version is $839. I just don't believe that the ESP one is worth twice the money. Now, if you're willing to go used, you can pick up an M1 for under $1000. But if Predator1 got his LTD for $599 new w/ case, that's a helluva deal! I guess my main point is, the Lynch LTDs are a much better deal now than ones from a couple years ago.
Yes they do, like I posted earlier they're still bang for the buck, and I wasn't dissing LTD, merely stating the differences in quality. I for one love the LTD EC-1000, good sustain, but the body is suspiciously light, I've been told they use veneers on those guitars. That wouldn't really suprise me, since lots of figured tops done by Koreans are veneers. But then again the neck plays amazing and it also looks pretty.
I for one also think ESPs are pretty expensive guitars, but once you own one there'll be no turning back! If you'd ask me if I'd buy a ESP Std. Viper camo or a Jackson KE2 Trans Black (both are in the same pricerange I believe), I'd pick the KE2 in a nutshot! I've never had a more comfortable guitar than the KE2
